Beyonce has backed Meghan Markle in a powerful show of support for the Duchess of Sussex. The megastar is the latest big name to publicly praise the former actress for her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. Beyonce, 39, says she was inspired by Meghan after the tell-all chat, which aired in the US on Sunday night. On Monday, tennis legend Serena Williams defended Meghan on social media, saying that she understands the "pain and cruelty" she has experienced. Beyonce added he voice and called Meghan courageous for standing up for what she feels is right. But the stars of the new Amazon series have told Sky News its themes reflect today's migrant crisis and surrounding issues. Cara Delevingne plays a fairy, one of the so-called Fae folk who are seeking refuge in the human world, while Orlando Bloom stars as a detective considered unusual for his empathy with the migrants. Sheridan Smith to star in psychological thriller with ex Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher
Sheridan Smith is set to star alongside former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher in a new Channel 5 drama, it has been confirmed. Teacher is a psychological thriller which follows Jenna, a state schoolteacher, whose life unravels after being accused of a drunken sexual encounter with one of her pupils. With no memory of the night in question, Jenna’s only hope of redemption lies in uncovering the truth about a dark event in her past that returns to haunt her. Sheridan, 39, will play Jenna, while Ackley Bridge actor Samuel Bottomley will star opposite Sheridan as the pupil at the centre of the sexual encounter Jenna finds herself in. Rochelle Humes says it’s ‘obscene’ black women more likely to die in pregnancy
Presenter Rochelle Humes is recalling her three pregnancies. “There are definitely times when you think, ‘I hope everything is going to be all right’ – but not at any point should you think, ‘Am I going to make it through this because of my race?’” The 32-year-old This Morning presenter has two daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and Valentina, four, and son Blake, five months, with husband Marvin. But it wasn’t until early last year, shortly before her third pregnancy, that she first became aware of the shocking statistics concerning skin colour and maternal death. “Being mixed race in the UK means I’m three more times likely to die during pregnancy and up to six weeks after birth, but black women fare even worse and are more than four times more likely to suffer a maternal death,” she says. “Asian women also die at higher rates.
