Russian forces massing on Ukraine’s border have daubed assault vehicles with ominous “invasion stripes,” heightening fears of all-out war breaking out. The Daily Mirror can also exclusively reveal that Russia will soon have a staggering assault force of 107,000 troops amassed at Ukraine’s border. It is far more than previously thought and emerged in documents leaked to the Mirror which include shocking details on the Russian firepower involved. Ukrainian military estimates of the advancing force include 1,300 battle tanks, 3,700 drones, 1,300 artillery and mortar units and 380 multiple launch rocket systems. The shocking numbers of troops alone represents at least 35,000 more Russian frontline troops more than the entire British Army following defence cuts. Brit paratroopers drop into Ukraine in show of strength as Russia tensions rise
More than 200 crack British troops have parachuted into Ukraine in a show of strength as tensions rise between the embattled country and Russia. The drop is the biggest mass UK exercise in more than 20 years. Units including the 16th Air Assault Brigade joined forces with more than 200 Ukrainian paratroopers for this week’s jump just 100 miles from Moscow-controlled Crimea. It comes after Vladimir Putin stepped up military operations against Russia’s neighbour. * What is your view on this story? Have your say in the comments below The Mirror was the only British newspaper allowed to witness the para-drop, named Joint Endeavour. Lobbying row escalates again as it emerges ANOTHER Cabinet Office adviser appointed by David Cameron was working for Greensill
The lobbying row escalated again today as it emerged another Cabinet Office adviser appointed by David Cameron was working for Greensill. David Brierwood combined a role as a crown representative in the Cabinet Office with being a director at Greensill for three and a half years. The Cabinet Office stressed Mr Brierwood's role was nothing to do with supply chain finance, Greensill's area of business, and all crown representatives go through 'regular propriety checks'. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing, but links between ministers, officials and businesses are under intense scrutiny following the collapse of Greensill in March and revelations about Mr Cameron's lobbying activities for the firm. David Cameron has been criticised over his lobbying of ministers on behalf of Greensill. Vladimir Putin blocks foreign warships from reaching Ukraine flashpoint after Joe Biden’s Black Sea U-turn
VLADIMIR Putin has blocked ALL foreign warships from reaching Ukraine after Joe Biden's Black Sea U-Turn. The Russian leader has amassed tens of thousands of troops and weaponry on the Ukrainian border in a terrifying escalation of tensions. This comes seven years after Russia ruthlessly annexed Crimea in the east of the country using militia groups. Moscow has now closed part of the Kerch Strait - which separates Crimea in the west from Russia in the east - after US President Biden threatened to send two Navy battleships to the region but then called them off . The Kremlin had earlier warned US warships to stay well away from the region “for their own good”, calling their potential deployment in the Black Sea a provocation. White House officials decided not to send the ships to avoid needlessly escalating the situation with Russia, a US defence official told Politico . This comes as: Putin moves tens of thousands of troops and heavy military equipment to … [Read more...] about Vladimir Putin blocks foreign warships from reaching Ukraine flashpoint after Joe Biden’s Black Sea U-turn
