Nearly half of Brits enjoy shopping for brand new clothing – but the post-shopping high fades after just four wears of a new garment, a study has found. A poll of 2,000 adults found that Brits will purchase new clothes five times a month on average, typically spending £70 a month on updating their wardrobe – although a fifth will spend £100 or more. And 47% say they enjoy buying new clothing items – but the post-shopping glow quickly turns to guilt for 56% of shoppers. More than one in five (22%) admit the excitement of the item's “newness” is fleeting, while 17% start to develop doubts over whether they actually like their purchase once their shopping high subsides. And as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite, three-quarters look for bigger savings when shopping for clothes. A "controlling and manipulative" transgender man who tricked two women and a teenage girl into sexual relationships has been jailed for a string of sexual and violent offences. Tarjit Singh, who was born a female named Hannah Walters but now identifies as a man, had abusive relationships with each of his three victims between June 2010 and March 2016. During the course of the relationships, the 32-year-old wore clothes throughout intercourse and used strap-on sex toys in the dark. Singh, of Enfield, north London, was convicted of three counts of assault by penetration, six counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one count of making a threat to kill, after a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court earlier this year. Singh, who kept his head down throughout the sentencing, was jailed for a total of 10 years in prison with another three years on licence. A sexual harm prevention order was imposed. An inventor claiming to be the lovechild of John DeLorean - the creator of the car popularised by the Back to the Future film franchise - has been banned from continuing his own car business by a judge. Tyler DeLorean, who changed his name by deed poll from birth name Benjamin Granger, was ordered by London’s High Court to stop selling his own version of the DeLorean cars, which are constructed from the front of a three-wheeled Reliant Robin and the back of a pick-up truck, with gullwing doors. The DMC21 cars are advertised as coming with a “free hoverboard with every purchase” in reference to the famous films where the cars featured as a time machine. The High Court ordered Mr DeLorean to remove all references to the DeLorean brand from his cars, which he sold on his website for £20,000. He claimed that the cars were a “parody or pastiche” and that he should be allowed to continue selling them as a form of satire.
