How much you should be tipping on holiday and where you really should carry cash

· July 21, 2019 ·

While warnings that the UK will soon be a cashless society may be going a bit far, it’s true that we are increasingly happy paying for anything and everything with a card or mobile phone. According to figures from UK Finance, cash accounted for just 28% of payments last year, with one in ten of us choosing to live an almost entirely cashless life. However, it would be a mistake to assume that other nations are quite so happy for everything to be paid with using a debit or credit card. While some are just as cashless as us, others are much more cash focused. And this is an important thing to think about when sorting out your holiday spending money. Do you take card? Currency exchange firm WeSwap has crunched the data to find which nations across the world are most dependent on each form of payment. Here’s how the top ten nations for card payments measure up, based on the popularity of use. Card-friendly nations WeSwap As you can see, there is a real Nordic flavour to the … [Read more...] about How much you should be tipping on holiday and where you really should carry cash

Heinz to launch ‘Mayochup’ in the UK this month – but it will be called ‘Saucy Sauce’

· September 10, 2019 ·

HEINZ is finally launching its “Mayochup” sauce in the UK months after confirming the news. But the new condiment, which is a mixture of Heinz Ketchup and Heinz Seriously Good Mayonnaise, has a different name - instead it will be called “Saucy Sauce”. Trademark laws prevented Heinz from using the same name in Europe as another company already owns it. Heinz confirmed it would be bringing “Mayochup” to British shores back in March after a successful launch in the US last year. The table sauce was so popular stateside that “Mayomust” – mayonnaise and mustard – and “Mayocue” – you guessed it, mayo and barbecue sauce – soon followed. Let's not forget when Heinz also brought out a Cadbury Creme Egg-flavoured mayonnaise.Saucy Sauce will be available exclusively at Tesco from August 23 and will cost £2.69  for a 400ml bottle. Saucy Sauce contains 1.5g of salt and 12g of sugar per 100g, as well as 432 … [Read more...] about Heinz to launch ‘Mayochup’ in the UK this month – but it will be called ‘Saucy Sauce’

Brits spend 43 days over a lifetime trying to get into tricky packages

· December 9, 2019 ·

BRITS will spend the equivalent of 43 days of their life struggling to open troublesome packaging. A study of 2,000 UK adults found they spend 19 minutes a week trying to get into tricky packaging which is secured with too much tape, cable ties or even items which are screwed into place. And a sixth of Brits will spend more than half an hour of Christmas day trying to free their gifts of their annoying containers. Vacuum-packed plastic wrap and stuck jars are also among the packaging many find themselves struggling to open. But a sixth have even broken scissors or knives from being unable to get into difficult packaging, while as many as two-fifths have hurt themselves in their bid to unwrap something. A spokesperson for DS Smith, which commissioned the research, said: “These shocking results show that problem packaging isn’t just a nuisance, it’s a real issue that’s affecting millions of people and making them feel less included at special times like … [Read more...] about Brits spend 43 days over a lifetime trying to get into tricky packages
