Cate Blanchett has spoken about the "bad feeling" she got from disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein and suggested he may have acted inappropriately towards her. The Oscar-winning Hollywood actress - who worked with Weinstein on several films - was interviewed by Variety where she declined to get into details about her encounters with him, but did say she "wouldn't do what he was asking me to do". Asked "point-blank" if he ever sexually harassed her or behaved inappropriately, she said: "With me, yes. I think he really primarily preyed, like most predators, on the vulnerable. I mean I got a bad feeling from him... He would often say to me, 'We're not friends.'" Ashley Judd sues Harvey Weinstein for ‘damaging her career’
Ashley Judd is suing disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein, accusing him of damaging her career after she refused his sexual advances. A complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Ms Judd’s behalf alleges that Mr Weinstein acted as “the headwind limiting her career” in retaliation for her rejecting his “sexual demands”. It alleges that he undercut her effort to be cast in Lord of the Rings by describing her as difficult to work with. “With those baseless smears, Weinstein succeeded in blacklisting Ms. Judd and destroying her ability to work on what became a multi-billion-dollar franchise with 17 Academy Award wins and many more nominations”, the complaint, reviewed by Reuters, says. North Korean hackers linked to Sony Pictures attack have servers seized in Thailand
Police in Thailand have seized a computer server operated by a notorious hacker group from North Korea. The group affected has been blamed for the infamous Sony Pictures hack in 2014. Thailand’s Computer Emergency Response Team (ThaiCERT) announced that it took control of the equipment that the security firm McAfee had linked to Hidden Cobra – also known as the Lazarus Group – that is believed to be behind a number of high-profile attacks. A report from McAfee Advanced Threat Research found that a campaign referred to as Operation GhostSecret has been targeting critical infrastructure, entertainment, finance, healthcare, telecommunications and other key industries. Anyone at the opening night of Tina Brown’s ninth annual Women in the World Summit in New York could only have been humbled by a conversation on stage moderated by journalist Ronan Farrow with three Italian women, two of whom are accusers of Harvey Weinstein, the other a feminist politician. Their bravery was matched only by the bleakness of their stories. Some of the discussion was almost familiar. Two of the women, Ambra Gutierrez, a model, and Asia Argento, an actress, activist and screenwriter, were pivotal in what became Farrow’s astounding take-down of Weinstein in The New Yorker last year.
