The Walking Dead may have just wrapped up its current season but that doesn't seem to have prevented the writers from lining up next year's villain. Despite contending with a small matter of the final showdown between Rick and Negan, keen-eyed viewers noticed a little addition in the background which may be hinting at the anticipated addition of an even more terrifying faction than The Saviours. The scenes showing Rick lead his army toward The Saviours featured a moment in which they look out from the top of a hill and spot a huge horde of walkers in the distance. Continuing along the hill, the gun-toting warriors pass a series of poles which to the uninitiated seem like nothing at all. (Brandon Davis via AMC) In Robert Kirkman's comic book series the show is based on, poles similar to these are used as a territory-marking device by The Whisperers, a group led by a character named Alpha. Marking them out from the others is the way they disguise themselves as walkers, living among them … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead season 8 episode 16: Fans think finale set up The Whisperers as season 9 villains
The walking man
A FICTIONAL character started with a Photoshop contest entered by a man who had no idea the impact he would have with his creepy creation. Eric Knudsen has had an impact on popular culture as his character, Slender Man, became a part of modern literature, art, video games and now even a film - and even influenced an attempted murder. Who is Eric 'Victor Surge' Knudsen? He was the first person to create Slender Man, a mythical character, which was submitted to an internet forum called Something Awful. Although he has sparked the cult following which grew from Slender Man's creation, Knudsen says he does not spend much time on the internet. He is now 35 years old and lives with his wife and child in Florida. He said he was inspired by Stephen King's short stories, HP Lovecraft and William S Burroughs to create Slender Man. Apart from the initial inception of the creepy figure, he has not actually been behind much of the fiction and artwork inspired by it. He said: "I don't spend a lot of … [Read more...] about What is Slender Man, who is Eric ‘Victor Surge’ Knudsen, when is the film’s UK release date and what was the Slender Man stabbing?
As the climax of The Walking Dead season 8 arrives, so too does the end of the series as we know it. This weekend's finale - titled 'Wrath' - marks the final episode with Scott Gimple in the position as showrunner - and he's making some rather big claims regarding the future of the series. “This episode isn’t just like these 15 episodes coming to a conclusion, but Angela and myself and the writers had always talked about this in many ways being sort of the conclusion of the first eight seasons,” he said. “This show will be very much a new show next year and with a bigger, new narrative. It was something I was really excited about getting into even before season 8. And so there was just a certain weight in the air of the kind of conclusion that we were getting closer to. It was a weird graduation for everybody.” Read more The Walking Dead reveals Carl's letters to Rick and Negan The Walking Dead season 8 episode 15 spoiler review Fear the Walking Dead … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead episode 16: Finale will ‘conclude’ all eight seasons, says showrunner
“No more talk” - after two seasons and 15 episodes of merciless baseball bat-swinging, gunfire and unadulterated battle, The Walking Dead is on the cusp of drawing yet another era to a close. The latest episode of season 8 - its penultimate outing titled 'Worth,' - was largely designed to put the playing pieces in place ahead of next week's conclusion serving as a 50-minute emblem of these three words spoken by the villainous Negan as the episode ends. Negan has a point: there really is nothing more to be said; his conversation with Rick has been exhausted. From the moment he ended the life of Abraham and Glenn two whole seasons ago, this was only ever going tend one way which in turn renders all the near-misses and detours featured throughout the past few seasons as filler. Michonne (Danai Gurira) tries.... and fails spectacularly. Like the audience, she doesn't so much think than hope that Negan hearing the letter Carl wrote to him … [Read more...] about The Walking Dead season 8 episode 15 spoiler review
