CERN’s July 5 experiment linked to Stranger Things and ‘upside down’ by conspiracy theorists
CREATIVE fans of Stranger Things have peddled bizarre conspiracy theories linking an experiment at the world's largest particle accelerator with the show's demonic, otherworldly dimension. Real science blends with science fiction in these quirky theories and claims. The European Organization for Nuclear Research is celebrating its tenth anniversary by restarting its Large Hadron Collider (LHC) after it was shut down three years ago. The LHC is the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator and its located more than 150 feet below ground. Its 17-mile tunnel is used as a testing chamber for studies on high-energy impacts. On July 5, 2022, there will be collisions at unprecedented energy levels at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). New CERN Hadron Collider experiment sparks July 5 Doomsday conspiracies – what’s really going on
DOOMSDAY conspiracy theories are abounding as the new July 5 CERN Large Hadron Collider experiment is set to create unprecedented levels of energy. The European Organization for Nuclear Research is celebrating its tenth anniversary by restarting its Large Hadron Collider after it was shut down three years ago. The European organization, also known as CERN, operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. CERN's main function is to provide the particle accelerators and other infrastructure needed for high-energy physics. Numerous high-profile experiments have been constructed at the institute through international collaborations, such as the creation of the World Wide Web. Trump says a sitting president can’t be investigated. Will the Supreme Court tell him he’s wrong? | Opinion
The rules of federal governance are being dramatically reconceived under the presidency of Donald Trump. The president's traditional relationship with federal agencies, with Congress and with state governments are all being called into question. At no time, however, in the past three and a half years has the radical nature of the "Constitution according to Trump" been more apparent than on Tuesday, when the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two cases addressing whether the Constitution permits either Congress or a state district attorney to subpoena the president's tax returns from his accountants, Mazars. Trump's lawyers, of course, say no—a president's personal financial records cannot be subpoenaed, because a sitting president cannot be investigated, not by Congress and not by a state district attorney. The nub of the president's argument is that Article II of the Constitution gives him "temporary absolute immunity" until he leaves office. Worse, Trump thinks it extends … [Read more...] about Trump says a sitting president can’t be investigated. Will the Supreme Court tell him he’s wrong? | Opinion

DR MAX PEMBERTON: Love is a drug… but not one we can prescribe
Love is an inexplicable thing, isn’t it? It’s almost impossible to explain it to someone who’s never experienced it. What’s all the more mysterious is the way it changes over time. The feeling of love that, say, a teenager has — that first, giddy, all-consuming feeling that is almost an ache — is quite different to the deep, entwined feeling of love that a couple who have been together for 50 years feels. And the types of love people experience are so varied. Is the love a parent has for their child the same as the love someone has for a pet? Can we lump the feelings of love between friends with the feelings of love between family members? When we talk about love, we are really describing a lot of very complex emotions. Love can be wonderful but also painful, confusing and upsetting. Can we simply explain all this by brain chemistry? Can it really be reduced to a series of hormones surging around in our heads? Dr Anna Machin argues that advances in neuroscience mean … [Read more...] about DR MAX PEMBERTON: Love is a drug… but not one we can prescribe
Disney Could Lose Exclusive Rights To Mickey Mouse By 2024 | The Daily Wire
In two years, Disney could lose the exclusive rights to Mickey Mouse. The original version of Mickey Mouse appeared in 1928; at the time U.S. copyright law protected Walt Disney’s iconic character for 56 years, but Disney later pushed for the Copyright Act of 1976, extended protections to 75 years. Then in 1998, Disney lobbied for an extension that expanded their rights to 95 years. “The most recent extension came through the Copyright Term Extension Act in 1998, known to many as the Mickey Mouse Protection Act because of Disney’s heavy lobbying in support of the bill,” The Los Angeles Times noted, adding: From 1987 to 1990 — around the time the legislation was being voted on — the Disney Political Action Committee donated $146,519 to federal candidates, while Disney employees gave $474,083 to candidates, plus an additional $133,382 to political parties and other PACs, according to a 1991 analysis by The Times . “You can use the Mickey Mouse character as it was … [Read more...] about Disney Could Lose Exclusive Rights To Mickey Mouse By 2024 | The Daily Wire
Copenhagen shootings: Police kill ‘gunman’ after two attacks
Published 15 February 2015 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Police in Copenhagen say they have shot dead a man they believe was behind two deadly attacks in the Danish capital hours earlier. Police say they killed the man in the Norrebro district after he opened fire on them. It came after one person was killed and three police officers injured at a free speech debate in a cafe on Saturday. In the second attack, a Jewish man was killed and two police officers wounded near the city's main synagogue. Police say video surveillance suggested the same man carried out both attacks. They do not believe any other people were involved. The head of Danish intelligence said investigators were working on the theory that the gunman could have been inspired by the shootings in Paris last month. Heard lawyer says juror in Depp trial wasn’t who he claimed to be
Amber Heard's legal team has requested that the verdict from her defamation case against Johnny Depp be overturned, or both sides return to court for a new trial. In a 43-page memorandum filed on Friday, the Aquaman star's attorneys have argued that there were a number of issues with the June 1 ruling, including excessive damages awarded to Depp and poor legal reasoning. One of the more unusual factors raised in the Virginia court filing by Heard's lead attorney Elaine Bredehoft is an allegation that one juror is actually 25 years younger than he had initially claimed to be. Singling the juror out by their number, the filing stated that: "Juror 15 had a birth year of 1945. Juror 15, however, was clearly born later than 1945. Publicly available information demonstrates that he appears to have been born in 1970." "This discrepancy raises the questions whether Juror 15 actually received a summons for jury duty and was properly vetted by the Court to serve on the jury," the … [Read more...] about Heard lawyer says juror in Depp trial wasn’t who he claimed to be
