AN author has resorted to using wheelie bins to save a parking space outside her house. Helen Barrell claims her road in Sandwell, West Midlands , is constantly clogged up by parents on the school run, leaving her nowhere to pull up. The 43-year-old said the nearby primary has no parking facilities meaning mums, dads and teachers block her street instead. Helen, who has lived in her home for 12 years, said things have become so bad she has reserved a spot outside with her bins. She told BirminghamLive : "The road I live in is right by a primary school which doesn't have any parking for staff, so they all park on my road and other roads nearby. Europa League: Filip Kostic and Frankfurt’s fairytale run
It seemed as if he was a good as gone, and as a result there was a sense of shock among the Eintracht Frankfurt fans. Secrets and Lies in the School Cafeteria

To hear more feature stories, see our full list or get the Audm iPhone app. A woman entered quietly through the back door, the one designated for deliveries and employees. Get the look: Maxine Brady’s amazing New York coffee shop inspired kitchen
Maxine Brady is proof that you don’t need Gordon Ramsay around to suffer a kitchen nightmare. Maxine is an interior stylist from Brighton and shares her immaculate peppermint Victorian terrace house with her white fluffy dog, Teddy. But it wasn’t always so pretty. When she moved in, the house had been empty for seven years and came complete with an overgrown garden, leaking roof, horrible 1970s staircase and orange pine floorboards. Then there was the kitchen… ‘The kitchen was awful. There was a bank of 1990s beige wall and base units, an awkward corner sink and drafty back door,’ Maxine says. ‘The fridge was positioned in a corner cupboard. It was so cold in the winter you couldn’t spend much time in here. In the summer, it wasn’t much better as snails would trail across the floor. ‘When I ripped out the kitchen, I could see that water had been running down the back wall from the bathroom above into the plug socket. It was lucky I didn’t electrocute myself when … [Read more...] about Get the look: Maxine Brady’s amazing New York coffee shop inspired kitchen
How the EU spent billions to halt migration from Africa
Faced with hundreds of thousands of refugees arriving in EU countries in 2015, policymakers from member states felt the pressure to show a quick reaction. Convening with the leaders of several African countries in the Maltese capital, Valletta, they decided to fill a pot of money. This money was not dedicated to helping integrate the thousands of people who had arrived in the European Union. Instead, the so-called EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF) was supposed to "address the root causes of irregular migration" so that fewer Africans might try to make their — often dangerous — way to Europe. Was this goal reached six years and €5 billion later? Together with partner newsrooms within the European Data Journalism Network, DW is taking stock of the EUTF. More than 250 projects were initiated through to the official end of the project assignment phase in December 2021, and many of them are still up and running, with the peak disbursement of EUTF funds in summer 2020. With the … [Read more...] about How the EU spent billions to halt migration from Africa
