Oblivious woman escapes death after holding deadly blue-ringed octopus that can ‘kill 26 HUMANS’
AN OBLIVIOUS tourist narrowly escaped death after holding a blue-ringed octopus capable of killing 26 humans within minutes. Kaylin Phillips shared a video on TikTok which showed her with the lethal creature in her palm, completely unware that she was risking imminent death. Kaylin posted the video with the title “going to Bali and unknowingly holding one of the most dangerous animals”. Little did she know at the time, but the blue-ringed octopus' venom contains the powerful neurotoxin tetrodotoxin, which can cause death by respiratory arrest within minutes. After Kaylin looked up the species she realised how close she had been to death as she held the critter in her hand on the Indonesian island. The venom, tetrodotoxin, can paralyse a human in minutes, depriving the body of oxygen and causing death in serious cases. Most bites are initially not painful but may begin to throb and feel numb after 10 minutes. A luxury wedding and honeymoon in blissful Bali should have been nothing short of idyllic for Lucy Burgoyne. Woman takes holiday photo unaware she’s holding one of world’s most dangerous animals
A tourist had a lucky escape after holding a mysterious sea creature for a photo - only to discover it was one of the world's most dangerous animals. TikTok user @Kaylinmarie21 shared a video of her holding a small octopus - no bigger than the palm of her hand - with a brown body and dark circles as it crawled around and others splashed it with water during a trip to Bali. But after posing for photos with the creature, she looked it up online to find it was a blue-ringed octopus - recognised as one of the most deadliest animals in the ocean, packing enough venom to kill 26 humans. Even more frightening, it is reported that people may be completely unaware the octopus has bitten them until it's too late. Sharing the information she found online, it reads: "The blue-ringed octopus, despite its small size, carries enough venom to kill 26 adult humans within minutes. "Their bits are tiny and often painless, with many victims not realising they have been envenomated until … [Read more...] about Woman takes holiday photo unaware she’s holding one of world’s most dangerous animals
