Elon Musk’s job ad for a “hardcore” lawyer gets trolled on Twitter

May 24, 2022 by www.newsweek.com

Elon Musk's tweet last Friday seeking "hardcore streetfighters" to join Tesla's litigation department has been derided and trolled with thousands of mock job applications. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO's Twitter job ad came one day after a bombshell report accused the tech mogul of sexual harassment in 2016. According to Insider , a former flight attendant and SpaceX employee alleged that Musk exposed his penis to her and offered to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. SpaceX later paid the woman $250,000 to settle her sexual misconduct accusation, Insider reported. Musk has dismissed the allegation as a "politically motivated hit piece." The world's richest man also recently made news for agreeing to buy Twitter in a $44 billion deal on April 14. A month later, he announced that the deal was "temporarily on hold" pending details over fake accounts. In the tweeted job ad for lawyers to join Tesla, Musk said, "Tesla is building a hardcore litigation … [Read more...] about Elon Musk’s job ad for a “hardcore” lawyer gets trolled on Twitter

Elon Musk loses £8 billion in a day following claims he offered horse for erotic massage

May 24, 2022 by www.dailystar.co.uk

Elon Musk saw his net worth plummet by around £8 billion ($10bn) in a single day last week after sexual harassment allegations about him emerged. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index , Musk's wealth fell to about £160bn ($201bn) late last week, down from $212bn. This is because Tesla stocks, which make up a large portion of Musk's fortune, plummeted following the claims. It has since increased slightly to £162bn ($204bn) as Tesla stock prices stabilised over the weekend. A Business Insider report claimed they obtained documents and interviews which detailed an incident between Musk and an anonymous flight attendant on a private jet in 2016. The report, which was based on claims by the flight attendant's 'friend', claims that Musk exposed his penis to the flight attendant and offered to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. Musk reportedly requested her to visit his room during the flight, where he was "completely naked" other than a "sheet … [Read more...] about Elon Musk loses £8 billion in a day following claims he offered horse for erotic massage

Silicon Valley lashes out at Trump ban

January 30, 2017 by www.bbc.co.uk

Dave Lee Published 30 January 2017 comments Comments Share close Share page Copy link About sharing For months, Silicon Valley seemed to be heeding the advice of one of its most powerful figures, billionaire investor Peter Thiel, who said President Trump should be taken "seriously, but not literally”. But at the international arrivals gate at San Francisco airport at the weekend, things were getting very literal, very quickly. What the tech industry had feared might happen, was happening. The impact of President Trump’s immigration ban on tech companies has been immediate. And one by one, the major firms and personalities in this part of the world spoke out with a fervour some felt was long overdue. It was Google’s Sundar Pichai who really got the ball rolling. Late on Friday, he sent a memo to all employees raising his concerns and revealing that more than 100 Google … [Read more...] about Silicon Valley lashes out at Trump ban

Will swapping out electric car batteries catch on?

May 16, 2022 by www.bbc.co.uk

By Adrienne Murray Published 17 May Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Without even a touch of the steering wheel, the electric car reverses autonomously into the recharging station. I won't be plugging it in though, instead, the battery will be swapped for a fresh one, at this facility in Norway belonging to Chinese electric carmaker, Nio. The technology is already widespread in China, but the new Power Swap Station, just south of Oslo, is Europe's first. The company hopes that swapping-out the entire battery will appeal to customers worried about the range of electric cars, or who simply don't like queuing to recharge. It was certainly straightforward to book a slot on Nio's app, and once inside the station, all I have to do is park on the designated markings and wait in the car. I can hear bolts being undone as the battery is automatically removed from … [Read more...] about Will swapping out electric car batteries catch on?
