Michelle Maltais USA TODAY Published 5:01 AM EDT Mar 14, 2019 Tesla is finally putting the Y in sexy – or rather S 3 X Y — its lineup of car models. The electric car maker is unveiling its new Model Y crossover SUV at Thursday at 8 p.m. Pacific Time in Los Angeles. I would be lying if I said I didn't find it alluring. I have long lusted with a protective detachment after the sleek cars that seemed the elusive and unattainable thing I could only dream about. And yes, I'll be watching the unveiling of Tesla's newest addition. But it won't be with my face longingly pressed up against the screen – this time, it will be as a Tesla owner. Just less than three months ago, my husband and I got our his-and-hers Model 3s for Christmas, fulfilling his dream to prove me wrong. (When he pitched the idea when the Model 3 was first announced, I told him he was kidding. It wasn't a question.) Initially an experience reserved for the … [Read more...] about Tesla Model Y unveil: Has Elon Musk satisfied this Model 3 owner?
Tesla model s interior
Nathan Bomey USA TODAY Published 5:01 AM EDT Mar 14, 2019 Tesla CEO Elon Musk will unveil the automaker's newest electric vehicle at an event Thursday night in the Los Angeles area. The Model Y will make its debut as questions swirl regarding the SUV's design, tech features, exact timing and pricing. Tesla must deliver a functional interior and improved reliability to appeal to pragmatic, family-oriented compact SUV buyers, said Jessica Caldwell, an analyst at car-buying advice site Edmunds. "This is not a sports-car segment," Caldwell said. "These are not young Tesla enthusiasts thinking this is my way into a Tesla. Will it have smart packaging on the interior that will actually work for families?" Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Cox Automotive's Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader, said "the clock is ticking" for Tesla to deliver a compelling product because competitors are rapidly catching up. That makes it critical for the company to pull off the Model Y … [Read more...] about Tesla Model Y: Elon Musk to reveal newest electric vehicle, an SUV
Tesla is selling a cut-price version of its Model 3 as it delivers on a promise to sell a mass market sedan for $35,000 (£26,000). Prior to Friday's announcement, the cheapest Model 3 that could be ordered started at $42,900 (£32,350) and, as recently as September, the average selling price exceeded $50,000 (£37,000). Tesla CEO Elon Musk is finally rolling out the electric automaker's flagship Model 3 car at a price tag of $35,000. Musk has long touted the Model 3, unveiled in 2017, as an affordable option for drivers looking to go electric. But Tesla, which is counting on the vehicle to help it crack the mass market and drive growth, has struggled to deliver on that pricing pledge. A survey last summer pegged the average price for a Model 3 price at more than $59,000.Consumers can now order the lowest-cost Tesla with a standard interior and 220-mile battery back, with deliveries starting as soon as next month. A Model 3 with a range of 240 miles is available for $37,000.Tesla said it is changing its sales practices around the globe to help lower the Model 3's base price and will only allow people to make purchases online. That shift will entail closing some Tesla dealerships, resulting in an undisclosed number of layoffs."You can now buy a Tesla in North America via your phone in about 1 minute, … [Read more...] about Tesla’s Model 3 now selling for $35,000

The feature was announced by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk in November via Twitter, when Model 3 owner Josh Atchley asked him via the social media platform: “Can you put a dog mode on the Tesla Model 3. Where the music plays and the ac [air-conditioning] is on, with a display on screen saying ‘I’m fine my owner will be right back’?” Musk simply responded at the time with ‘Yes’ before announcing this week that the feature would make its way to cars via an over-the-air software update. The vehicle already has a system called ‘cabin overheat protection’, which detects occupants in the vehicle and prevents the interior from reaching unsafe temperatures. Dog Mode is expected to … [Read more...] about Tesla to introduce pet-saving Dog Mode for Model 3
