National treasure Olivia Colman has scooped a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The royal gong caps an awards-littered few months for the actress, 45, who claimed an Oscar and Bafta for The Favourite earlier this year. There were OBEs for Oliver's Army crooner Elvis Costello, chief scout Bear Grylls, and Good Wife star Cush Jumbo. Along with the famous names, the list also celebrates the efforts of those working to improve people's lives. Of the 1,073 people honoured across the UK in this year's list, 47% are women - slightly down on some previous lists. 10.4% come from a BAME background - the highest ever, by a small margin, in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The Tories do not look like they will be relinquishing their vice-like grip on Spelthorne Borough Council unless the election provides a huge upset. With the magic number set at 20 for overall control, it will take a near miracle for the Conservatives to be ousted. Of the 103 candidates up for election on May 2, the Tories will have a maximum of 39 up for election across 13 wards. Their nearest challenger, and the only other party able to achieve a theoretical majority, is Labour with 21 candidates - a decrease of 10 candidates from four years ago. It means Jeremy Corbyn's party would have the nigh-on-impossible task of having all of its candidates bar one elected for it to wrestle power away from the Tories - which has had control of the council since its formation in 1973. In Paris, the abandoned 16th century Saint-Vincent de Paul hospital campus has been reimagined as Les Grands Voisins, a "utopian village", with bars and restaurants, a flea market, greenhouses, football pitches, camping and more. It's one of the coolest places in the city. In Belfast, St George's Market (voted the UK's Best Large Indoor Market 2019) holds weekly food and craft markets, and a variety of cultural events such as Chinese New Year.
