FISHNET tights and feather trimmings, rouged lips and cropped curls. Welcome to the glitz and glamour of the Roaring Twenties 2.0. The Golden Globes felt more like The Great Gatsby given the period razzle-dazzle on show from its stars. First there were the dresses . The Great’s Elle Fanning and The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy wore silk slip dresses. Actress and singer Andra Day, and Ozark’s Julia Garner, plumped for plunging necks and drop waistlines. Mad Men’s January Jones, with bold red lips, wore a floor-length fringe frock, while Rosamund Pike wore a fantastic red dress designed by fellow Brit Molly Goddard. Then there were the hairstyles. The Crown’s Emma Corrin sported a slicked-back Eton crop while actresses Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins and Margot Robbie styled grown-out lockdown dos into side partings with glamorous retro waves. Just as the Jazz Age followed the horrors of world war and millions of deaths in the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, … [Read more...] about The Roaring 20s are back so here are the best high-street buys to get the look

Deadly herpes virus outbreak in equestrian sports
Fear is spreading in the world of equestrian sport: At a tournament in the Spanish coastal city of Valencia, several horses have been infected with a dangerous variant of the herpes virus and died within a short time. The virus spreads quickly, treatment of the sick animals is difficult, and the prospect of a cure is slim. The outbreak is "probably the worst in Europe for many decades," said Sabrina Ibanez, secretary general of the FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale). A total of about 750 horses were competing in the competitions in Valencia. "It's very bad," Otto Becker, Germany’s national show jumping coach, also confirmed in an interview with DW. "There are a lot of vets on site looking after the animals. It's really been a disaster what happened there." Otto Becker,Germany’s national show jumping coach, is hoping the outbreak is contained soon. Herpes is not uncommon in horses. Secret tunnel dating back hundreds of years found by workmen moving garden pole
A secret tunnel unused for hundreds of years was stumbled upon by workmen. A Western Power Distribution team were on a job in Tintern, Monmouthshire moving an overhead power line. When they started digging up a footpath which ran parallel to a fast flowing stream they realised something unusual was underfoot, Wales Online reported. They dug down and realised it was a four foot-high man-made passage. "Before work began we'd done all the usual checks and nothing had shown up on any of our drawings or records to indicate there was anything unusual about the site," said technician Allyn Gore. "But shortly after the excavation began, the digging team made the extraordinary discovery of what they initially thought to be a cave." He added: "Work stopped immediately and we were called in to decide what course of action we should take next. "I have previously been involved in other excavations where we've discovered old wells and cellars not shown on any plans, but nothing as … [Read more...] about Secret tunnel dating back hundreds of years found by workmen moving garden pole
Coronavirus: Australia wants EU to ‘review’ Italy’s vaccine block
Australia's prime minister on Friday said he "understands" why Italy blocked the planned export of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine . Nevertheless, Australia asked the European Commission on Friday to review the decision. Italy, backed by the European Union's executive arm, used export controls to stop around 250,000 doses leaving for Australia earlier this week, after the drug manufacturer failed to fulfill its European Union order. "Australia has raised the issue with the European Commission through multiple channels," Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt told reporters on Friday. Vicar Of Dibley fans reveal Dawn French’s funniest joke – and Alice didn’t get it
The Vicar Of Dibley is one of the UK's best-loved sitcoms - with Dawn French becoming a national treasure after her portrayal of Reverend Geraldine Granger. The reverend would close almost every episode by sharing an often rude joke with the church verger Alice, one of the many quirky characters in the village, who would usually fail to understand the punchline. A specially-commissioned study has now asked people to rank the jokes according to their funniness - with fans saying "no, no, no, no, no" to the ones they didn't like, and "yes!" to the ones they did. So, in reverse order, here were the top five: Santa Claus visits the doctor In fifth place was a Christmas-themed joke which 46% of respondents thought was amusing. It went: "Santa Claus goes to the doctor and says 'Doctor, I think I've got a mince pie stuck up my bottom.' "The doctor looks and says 'Oh dear, you do indeed have a mince pie stuck up your bottom. But you're in luck - I've got some cream for that.'" … [Read more...] about Vicar Of Dibley fans reveal Dawn French’s funniest joke – and Alice didn’t get it
