Alton Towers Resort has offered up a sneak peek inside its brand new ride inspired by David Walliams' novel Gangsta Granny. The aptly named Gangsta Granny: The Ride will take visitors on an adventure with character Ben, who discovers his Granny is secretly an international jewel thief - and this time, she's got her eyes on the Crown Jewels! Now the resort has shared a behind-the-scenes video taking theme park fans inside the ride as it's being built, with sneak peeks at the set, vehicles and designs for a taste of what's to come. It looks like it will be a very immersive experience, with riders sitting in 'Royal Carriages' that will transport them through the iconic scenes of the book, where they will see, feel, hear and even smell their surroundings. David Walliams himself has been very involved in the project - and it's revealed he will even provide some of the voiceovers for the attraction. Looking for more travel news? Saxony: Where smart rail connections are not just a dream
When Sören Claus talks about the project he heads as chief technical officer from his modest office in Annaberg-Buchholz, his eyes start to shine. To outsiders, his Smart Rail Connectivity Campus (SRCC) may sound a tad too technical — to Claus it's nothing less than the stuff that rail traffic's digital future in Europe is made of. It doesn't happen very often that the Saxon town of Annaberg in the Erzgebirge mountains close to the German-Czech border gets the attention of people dealing with next-generation mobility issues. But for a couple of years, it's no doubt been piquing the interest of researchers and businesspeople alike, at least ever since Europe's first fully digital rail switch tower was inaugurated there on a stormy night in January 2018. This signal box is an integral part of the SRCC project pursued jointly by German rail operator Deutsche Bahn, the town of Annaberg-Buchholz and the Chemnitz University of Technology. The rail campus has already attracted well … [Read more...] about Saxony: Where smart rail connections are not just a dream

Holly Willoughby pays tribute to NHS by flying blue flag at her ‘castle mansion’
Holly Willoughby is showing her support for the NHS by flying a flag baring its logo from her home. The This Morning presenter's tribute to the health service says "NHS - We thank you" in its famous shade of blue and is proudly flying from the roof of her £3million South London house, according to The Sun . Her six-bedroom property, which she and her husband Dan Baldwin bought in 2011, has a huge tower dating back to the 1800s in the middle of the roof, likening it to a castle. The couple have added a flag and flagpole to the tower, which previously had a Union Jack flying from it. Neighbours were said to have complained about the patriotic display. One neighbour told The Mirror at the time: "We don't hang the Union Jack or St George flag outside our properties, so why should she? "It's not really becoming of the area. "The Tower house is one of the oldest in the neighbourhood, and has a very prominent tower, but it's never had a Union Jack on it before.
