A 7/7 bomb victim’s son said today he had “no choice” but to make his mother face jail for stealing his £50,000 compensation payout. Adam Gray was 11 when his dad Richard, 41, died at Aldgate Station, London, in the 2005 suicide blasts. He gave his criminal injuries damages to his mum Louise for safekeeping – and she then splurged the lot on a high-rolling lifestyle. Now a judge has warned Louise, 42, she is “likely” to be jailed. And Adam, 20, who has seen his family torn apart by the bombings and now the money row, has added: “Justice needs to be served.” He told the Sunday People: “I supported the police’s investigation. “It’s been more than a year since I confronted Mum over stealing my compensation and she’s never shown any real remorse or made any attempts to pay me back. “That money was supposed to safeguard my future but she’s left me penniless. "I’ve lost my dad and … [Read more...] about Son of 7/7 victim: I’ve lost BOTH parents now after mum stole my £50k compensation

Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton has told how he responded to a desperate call about a suicidal soldier. It was 11.30pm but the Corrie star did not hesitate and rushed to the struggling man. He said: “I drove to a motorway bridge, to a soldier I’d never met who was suicidal and then drove him back to my house.” That was five ago and Antony, 44, lost contact with him until Christmas Eve last year. Dozens of staff at People’s Vote have staged a walkout in protest at moves by the PR guru Roland Rudd to force two leading figures out of the organisation, plunging the campaign for a second referendum further into chaos. The campaign was in disarray on Monday after James McGrory, the director, and Tom Baldwin, the head of communications, were asked to leave with immediate effect. Rudd, who is the chairman of Open Britain, one of the organisations that makes up the People’s Vote campaign, sent an email to staffers on Sunday night saying it would be moving on to a “more structured basis”. Patrick Heneghan, a former head of campaigns for the Labour party, was then appointed temporarily as acting chief executive of People’s Vote. Rudd told staff he would address a meeting at 9am on Monday but he did not attend after Baldwin and McGrory turned up to work as usual. Instead, he appeared on Sky News to defend the reorganisation and sent Heneghan in his place. … [Read more...] about People’s Vote staff walk out over sacking of senior figures
