The singer was the ninth celebrity contestant announced to take part in BBC One’s flagship entertainment show. Her participation was revealed earlier than expected on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 breakfast show when the DJ said he was being asked by listeners to spill the beans. He told listeners: “People are texting in saying ‘Can’t you tell us who the Strictly contestant is because we’re not going to be here when she comes on?’ “I said it was a she yesterday and it is a she. CASH-strapped tennis star Boris Becker could soon be swapping serves for sambas after entering talks with Strictly Come Dancing. The sporting icon, 50, was declared bankrupt in June last year and is reported to have racked up £54 million in debt, even selling his beloved trio of Wimbledon trophies to help ease his cash woes. And after years of turning down an offer to take to the dance-floor on the BBC’s top reality show, he has been engaging in discussions - even attending a taping of the series as a VIP audience member. NOT being able to walk because of a dodgy hip is bad news in any job – but it’s even worse when your life depends on dancing. Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, who has just had his second hip replacement, says even being sat down critiquing others’ moves on the BBC1 show left him in crippling agony, let alone doing his own routines. Acid-tongued Craig delayed the operation for as long as possible so he could star in Annie in the West End, but said his career hung in the balance if he put off surgery any longer.
