The BBC has had their name dragged through the mud of late after a couple of tough weeks for the show that saw them get labelled as racist. The shock exit of EastEnders’ Tameka Empson , a week after DJ Melvin Odoom was sent home, meant the first two stars to leave the hit BBC show were black. Shocked viewers soon took to social media to claim racism was to blame, but a look back at past competitors suggests the BBC is not racist as Louis Smith, Alesha Dixon and Mark Ramprakash all won their series. Tameka, 39, and dance partner Gorka Marquez, scored 28 points from the judges for their Beverly Hills Cop-style tango in Movie Week – putting them six places from bottom of the leaderboard and streaks ahead of the entertaining but two-left-footed former politician Ed Balls. Yet the public voted her into the dance-off, whipping up a row that is raising temperatures faster than the raunchy Moulin Rouge-style salsa by presenter Laura Whitmore that ultimately beat her. EMMERDALE'S Cain Dingle was spotted sitting in the Strictly Come Dancing audience this weekend by eagle-eyed fans tuning in at home. The Dales badboy - otherwise known as actor Jeff Hordley - was in the audience to support pal and former co-star Kelvin Fletcher in tonight's semi-final to see them get thier first 40 of the series. Richard Coles, Calman’s fellow contestant on the latest series of the show, which opened on Saturday night, has now revealed that “discussions” have been held with the BBC over the issue of same-sex dancing partners. … [Read more...] about Same-sex dance partners on the cards for Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dingle Stand-out sight of the Strictly semis? It wasn't watching former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher adopt a self-protective fig-leaf pose, complete with some self-attack finger-picking as he sat next to dance partner Oti Mabuse watching fan clips on-screen, nor the way that Emma Barton seems to be morphing into Anita Harris, placing a very poised hand onto her chest after her slow, stately waltz like an old-time diva at the end of an aria. The "rewind-and-watch" moment for me this week was the sight of Cain Dingle - AKA actor Jeff Hordley - sitting in the front row of the audience with his dead step-daughter Holly (Sophie Powles). I thought Emmerdale’s perma-scowling bad boy appeared to be smiling, but maybe it was just wind. Holly looked great too, considering she popped her clogs several years ago. Ballet "Whoos" Did Cain join in what I can only describe as the series of low, desultory whoops that have become a staple of the audience’s reaction … [Read more...] about Strictly Come Dancing, semi-final – the body language: do Anton and Emma have the chemistry to win?
