An extremely rare Rolex watch made famous by the first James Bond film has emerged for sale for £250,000. The 1954 Rolex Submariner 6538 acquired cult status after one was worn by Sean Connery in the 1962 classic film Dr No. Bond subsequently wore the same model in several follow-up films, leading it to become one of the most sought-after Rolexes. The 55-year-old Rolex, valued at a quarter of a million pounds, has a black dial and a crystal reverse so the owner can see the finely-engineered Swiss movement Unlike modern Rolexes this watch does not feature the day or date in the three o'clock position; that was a later development by the manufacturer. Some wear and discoloration is visible on elements of the watch but it remains in very good condition RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Watches, a cigarette case and a lighter owned by infamous... It is hard to remember a moment in my lifetime when Britain faced a greater crisis. A coup led by a small group of rightwing libertarians is all but complete, as the Vote Leave team has been reassembled and taken control of 10 Downing Street. They are set upon implementing the most extreme no-deal version of Brexit – and, most terrifyingly, we are running out of time to stop them. At times of national crises political leaders need to bring a country together. But that is not happening. The government is hellbent on creating more divisions, scapegoating our friends and neighbours, and ignoring the inequality and democratic deficit that fuelled the Brexit vote. It is not only a crash-out Brexit that threatens our future. There’s the climate emergency too, and an unscrupulous leader would have no qualms about manipulating it to justify the sweeping aside of democratic guarantees and people losing their rights. We have to avoid this danger. Mending our broken democracy should … [Read more...] about I’m calling for a cabinet of women to stop a disastrous no-deal Brexit
A Fox News co-host said President Trump’s tweeting at former US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch during her testimony in Friday’s impeachment hearings on Capitol Hill ‘makes him look like a big dumb baby.’ ‘Should the president be tweeting at her mid-hearing? No, it makes him look like a big dumb baby,’ Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, who hosts a show on Fox Business Network, said during Friday’s episode of The Five on FNC. ‘And he makes her look like a victim and if he'd just let it go, the last two days of hearings and testimony would've been a snoozefest.’ The Fox News Channel's commentators are normally known for their fierce support of the President, though Montgomery, who is known by her middle name Kennedy, has frequently criticized Trump. Montgomery has said in media interviews that she identifies politically as a libertarian. In chilling detail, Yovanovitch, who was ousted from her post in Kyiv, described to Trump … [Read more...] about Fox News co-host says Trump tweeting at ousted US ambassador during impeachment testimony ‘makes him look like a big dumb baby’
A make-up artist, had dubbed himself 'a wizard' for creating incredible 3D optical illusions on his face. Luca Luce, from Milan, Italy, has gained more than 240,000 Instagram followers for his mind-bending artwork. The artist says he's inspired by 'everything from magic and fantasy' and loves to create illusions. One picture shows him appearing to have three eyes, while another looks as if a chunk of his head has been cut out and replaced with a ladder. 'I never attended art school but I love make up and 3D art, so I got the idea of trying to paint images on my hand using make up' he says. The time it takes to paint each piece is different. 'For a small job like a spider resting on the face, [it takes] just half an hour' he continues. 'For something more complex like cubism on the whole face it can take two hours or more' Luca found immediate success when he launched his Instagram page in 2014, from there he developed his style and decided to put in … [Read more...] about Made you look! Ten years ago, a young Mandarin specialist at GCHQ, the government's surveillance centre in Cheltenham, did something extraordinary. Katharine Gun, a shy and studious 28-year-old who spent her days listening in to obscure Chinese intercepts, decided to tell the world about a secret plan by the US government to spy on the United Nations. She had received an email in her inbox asking her and her colleagues to help in a vast intelligence "surge" designed to secure a UN resolution to send troops into Iraq. She was horrified and leaked the email to the Observer. As a result of the story the paper published 10 years ago this weekend, she was arrested, lost her job and faced trial under the Official Secrets Act. The memo from Frank Koza, chief of staff at the "regional targets" section of the National Security Agency, GCHQ's sister organisation in the US, remains shocking in its implications for British sovereignty. Koza was in effect issuing a direct order to the employees of a UK security … [Read more...] about Katharine Gun: Ten years on what happened to the woman who revealed dirty tricks on the UN Iraq war vote?
