A US lifeguard has been rushed to hospital after he was savaged by a shark of the coast of Long Island yesterday (July 3). Zach Gallo, had been doing a training exercise in the sea off Smith Point Beach when he was attacked from below by the predator. Gallo, who required stitches for his wounds, was bit in the chest and the hand by the shark, which then swam away. Police have released bodycam footage of the moments leading up to officers shooting dead an unarmed black man in Akron, Ohio. Jayland Walker, 25, was killed on 27 June in a pursuit that had started with an attempted traffic stop. Authorities said at a news conference on Sunday that the police involved believed Walker had shot at them earlier from a vehicle and was preparing to shoot again. It's not clear how many shots were fired by the eight officers involved, but Walker sustained more than 60 wounds.
