Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been working hard as he hopes to lead his iconic team back to the playoffs - and the NBA superstar enjoyed something of a dunk contest with his teenage sons on Tuesday. At the Lakers’ practice facility, James’ sons Bronny and Bryce worked alongside the four-time NBA champion on their jump shots and ball handling before showcasing their incredible vertical leap by engaging in a number of dunks. Bryce was particularly impressive given his youthful age of 15 while he is seemingly almost as tall as James himself. Both Bryce and Bronny, a star at Sierra Canyon School in LA, showed off an impressive ability to dunk the ball at a NBA-regulation height basketball rim despite their tender age. US basketball star Brittney Griner was convicted Thursday in Russia (local time) of drug possession and sentenced to nine years in prison following a politically charged trial. The 31-year-old Griner, a two-time US Olympic champion and an eight-time all-star with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury listened with a blank expression as an interpreter translated the verdict by Judge Anna Sotnikova. The judge also issued a 1 million rubles (about NZ$25,885) fine. The trial came amid soaring tensions between Moscow and Washington over Ukraine and could lead to a high-stakes prisoner exchange between the two world powers. US President Joe Biden denounced the verdict and sentence as “unacceptable”.
