American tennis star Coco Gauff made a hilarious error during a Wimbledon interview where she confused tennis legend Sue Barker with Star Wars ’ Wookiee warrior Chewbacca . An easy mistake, right?! The 18-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, somehow misheard ‘Sue Barker’ as ‘Chewbacca’, leading to a very baffled expression as she tried to work out why the interviewer was asking her about a Star Wars character… before the realisation hit. The interviewer asked: ‘Coco, one last thing, Sue Barker. We just want to get a message for Sue, like “Well done on your 30 years…”‘ ‘Oh Sue!’ Coco jumped in with, realising that they had been discussing the tennis legend and famous host of the BBC’s tennis coverage, who has announced she will be retiring after this year’s Wimbledon . ‘Sue Barker! Ukraine war: Survivors describe Russian army atrocities in the outskirts of Kyiv
After witnessing the first two weeks of the war in Ukraine , I went back to the region of Kyiv a month later, to find a very different atmosphere. Life was slowly resuming in the Ukrainian capital following the retreat of Russian troops from the region only a fortnight earlier. I knew the sight of people walking the streets again, and the bright beds of tulips blooming in Maidan Square would contrast starkly with what awaited me on the outskirts of the city. I had come back to document alleged war crimes in the area. The scale of destruction was startling. What used to be peaceful suburbs and villages had been turned into heaps of ruins, behind which lay the open wounds of those who had lived through weeks of horror. Located at the gates if the capital, the town of Irpin stands as a symbol of Ukrainian resistance to the Russian offensive. This is where I met Sasha, a 29 year old construction worker. He walked me through the nightmare he had endured in his … [Read more...] about Ukraine war: Survivors describe Russian army atrocities in the outskirts of Kyiv

French soldiers who warned of ‘civil war’ to face sanctions
A group of 18 serving soldiers who endorsed a warning about the risk of "civil war" in France will face sanctions before a military council, the chief of staff of France's armed forces said on Wednesday. The group, which included four officers, signed an open letter in a right-wing magazine which was also endorsed by at least 20 retired generals. The letter had hinted that the military could take action if France failed to act against residents of immigrant suburban areas. "France is in peril," opined the letter, which added that Islamism and "the hordes from the suburbs" could create hate between communities. "Those who run our country must imperatively find the needed courage to eradicate these dangers," said the signatories. They urged the state to firmly apply the laws of the land to set things right, and warned "the growing chaos" could end in a civil war.
