Swansea City star Wayne Routledge says the players have been left "shocked" by Graham Potter's departure for Brighton - while also revealing he asked for a clause to be removed from his contract. The Liberty club have been left in a state of disappointment after Potter joined the Seagulls on Monday on a four-year contract . It followed a week of intense speculation surrounding his future, with the 44-year-old asking for assurances from Swansea chiefs over what would happen during the summer transfer window. Those assurances were evidently not sufficiently met, with Potter and his backroom staff heading to the south coast for a crack at the Premier League. It has left Swansea back at square one, and Routledge summed up the general mood about the club following the news. "It's disappointing. I think he'd done a really good job with what he came into, with a lot of outgoings and a lot of players who hadn't played a lot of competitive football," Routledge told the BBC . A FOOTIE club has been forced to ban swords — as it prepares for an invasion from 1,200 fancy dress knights. Hartlepool United fans always travel to their last away game of the season in the same costumes. It has seen them dressed as Smurfs, Oompa Loompas and Star Wars’ Stormtroopers. But this year’s St George-inspired theme prompted safety fears from Barrow, who host Monday’s game. The Cumbrian club’s banned plastic or wooden swords but is encouraging visitors to bring blow-up ones instead. Fancy dress organiser John Pearson, 60, said: “This swords policy is a serious thing but it’s been done in the right way and that’s brilliant. “With it being St George’s Day the following day, it made sense for this year’s theme to tie in with that and no doubt there will be a focus on St George himself.
