MARK HAMILL has said it is “bittersweet” facing his final Star Wars film without Carrie Fisher. The actor, 66, is set to reprise the role of Luke Skywalker in Episode IX and unreleased footage of Fisher, who died in 2016 at 60, will also be used. Hamill shared two images on social media of himself and Fisher with the caption: “In Loving Memory of our princess Carrie Fisher.” He wrote: “It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her, she is simply irreplaceable. “I’m finding solace in the fact that she won’t BE replaced.” Filmmaker JJ Abrams said last week that Fisher would be in the next Star Wars film to give the latest trilogy a "satisfying conclusion". Footage of the Princess Leia actress shot for 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be used in the ninth film in the space opera's core trilogies. THAT'S WHAT SHE SEES IN HIM! Star wars actor dies
She was one of the most well-loved characters of the Star Wars films, and arguably its best-loved actress. So when Carrie Fisher died suddenly in 2016, the film world was beset by grief – and a question mark hung over the future of the Star Wars franchise. Now director JJ Abrams has confirmed that previously unseen footage of Fisher will be used to bring Leia Organa, the commanding leader of the Rebel Alliance, back to round off the Skywalker saga in the forthcoming ninth Star Wars film. “We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” Abrams said in a statement on the Star Wars website. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. “With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honour Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.” The news came as part of an … [Read more...] about Unseen Carrie Fisher footage will bring Princess Leia back in ninth Star Wars film

Mark Hamill has had his say on whether General Leia should be recast in the next ‘Star Wars’ film, following Carrie Fisher’s death. The actress died in 2016 after filming ‘The Last Jedi’, with the final film in the new trilogy originally supposed to have focused on her character, leaving bosses with a conundrum of how to address the situation. While producers have already ruled out digitally recreating General Leia, as they did with a younger version of the character in ‘Rogue One’, conversation recently turned to whether a different actress could play her. However, Mark, who has played Luke Skywalker opposite Carrie Fisher since the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, has weighed in on the matter, insisting she is “irreplaceable”. The actor told Collider: “I don’t know what the specific plans were for that character, but since Han was more prominent in VII, Luke was more prominent in VIII, we … [Read more...] about ‘Star Wars’: Mark Hamill Weighs In On Whether Leia Should Be Recast
