A MUM has hit back at strangers who shame her for breastfeeding her three-year-old son with people calling it "disgusting". But Naomi Winfield, 26, from Birmingham, says nursing her son Rio is a bonding experience, and that she will continue to do it until he starts school. Despite the cruel comments, the college student swears that the method helps the pair to bond and has kept the tot out of hospital when he's refused to eat solids. The mum-of-one said: "I've had more bad comments than good comments. People have told their kids not to look and said its disgusting. "A lot of people say he's too old and will be doing it forever. They say I'm selfish and doing it for me and I can't cope with the fact that my son is growing up. She said that one woman even told her husband to "not look" at her, while others say they "don't want to see that". "It's not a choice to still be breastfeeding, it's just happened this way. If he's upset or needs calming down, it's comforting … [Read more...] about People call me disgusting for breastfeeding my 3-year-old son – I nurse him 4 times a day & will until he starts school

Brits were busy celebrating the first bank holiday weekend since pubs re-opened yesterday as it emerged that daily Covid tests could soon free us of the ten-day isolation trap. Rapid tests will be taken every 24 hours by those living with virus sufferers but who have no symptoms – and as long as they are negative they can go about their normal business. Some 40,000 volunteers are being recruited for a trial starting next Sunday. The news came as revellers quenching their thirst for freedom supped 20 million pints – sparking fears of a beer shortage. And even a forecast of cold, wet weather looks unlikely to put off punters for the rest of this holiday weekend. Brewer has reportedly limited some pubs to three kegs a week on Amstel and Birra Moretti. That means landlords making do with as little as 264 pints of each lager – while on a normal day the average number of pints sold in an hour is 45. Heineken said: “We’re working hard on a solution to meet demand – all … [Read more...] about Ten-day self-isolation rule set to be scrapped under new plan to free UK from Covid
Thousands of exhausted doctors in the UK are planning to leave the NHS in the next year as they battle stress and burnout due to the demands of the pandemic. Of 2,099 people who responded to a BMA tracker survey, half said they plan to work fewer hours, 25 percent said they are "more likely" to take a career break, with a further 21 percent considering leaving the NHS altogether for another career. Dr Chaand Nagpaul, chairman of the British Medical Association (BMA) council, described it as a "deeply worrying" situation involving the potential departure of "talented, experienced professionals who the NHS needs more than ever to pull this country out of a once-in-a-generation health crisis". Many doctors pointed to their workload, including the inability to take breaks, as being among their reasons for wanting to go. Almost 40 percent of respondents said they did not have a place at work where they can safely relax with colleagues, despite knowing it would be a positive thing if … [Read more...] about Thousands of exhausted UK doctors planning to leave NHS in the next year after Covid
A human trafficking "slave" claims he was lured to the UK with the promise of a job, then forced to work on a puppy farm. Police and the SPCA raided the property and found squalid conditions, with dogs crammed into cupboards and puppies missing their eyes and limbs. It is feared a boom in demand for pedigree puppies during the coronavirus lockdown is fuelling a surging illicit dog-breeding trade. The worker alleged to the Daily Record he was forced to work 16 hours a day, seven days a week on the Perthshire, Scotland farm– all with no payment. When he demanded wages, he claims the farm owner physically attacked him and told him: “I will f***ing murder you.” The worker said: “I was a slave. I was exhausted all the time. I was depressed and I was treated like I was worthless. And I was scared. “If people in Scotland think modern slavery doesn’t happen here, they really need to open their eyes. It happened to me and it was terrible.” The Scottish SPCA launched a … [Read more...] about Trafficking ‘slave’ told ‘I’ll f***ing murder you’ forced to work on puppy farm
If only the medical advice were clearer, Anja W., a 35-year-old woman in the 25th week of pregnancy, would want to get vaccinated against COVID-19. She's a doctor, and she knows her way around all the issues. "If the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics and the Standing Committee on Vaccination would clearly recommend vaccination for pregnant women, and if a COVID-19 vaccination was deemed a lower risk than an infection with the virus itself, I would get vaccinated. I've been watching the advice in other countries. In the US, they've been vaccinating pregnant people for months," says Anja W. In addition to the US, other countries, such as the United Kingdom, Israel and Belgium have recommended that pregnant people get vaccinated. In fact, they are to be treated as priority cases. But Germany's Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) has yet to recommend it here, either during pregnancy or for those people breastfeeding newborn babies. Delay due to lack of data In … [Read more...] about COVID: Is it safe to get vaccinated in pregnancy?
