FEBRUARY saw the warmest and coldest temperatures of winter, according to statistics revealed today. But just days later on February 24 the nation warmed up and was bathed in 18.4C heat and glorious sunshine. Data compiled by the Met Office and released today shows it was the hottest day of the year so far and winter's warmest. Dr Mark McCarthy, head of the Met Office's National Climate Information Centre, said it was a month of two halves. A third woman has accused New York governor Andrew Cuomo of inappropriate behaviour, saying he touched her back and face and asked to kiss her moments after meeting at a wedding. Mr Cuomo is already facing an investigation over other sexual harassment claims and pressure for him to step aside is growing. Anna Ruch, 33, told the New York Times she was "so confused and shocked and embarrassed" by the encounter. She said she removed the governor's hand from her bare lower back, but he said she seemed "aggressive", and he then put his hands on her face and asked to kiss her. New York: Murder arrest over subway homeless fatal stabbings
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a spate of fatal knife attacks on the New York subway over the weekend. Four people - all thought to be homeless - were stabbed, two fatally. Rigoberto Lopez was detained on Saturday night and formally arrested on Sunday on charges of murder and attempted murder. A man was found dead on a train in Queens on Friday night with stab wounds to his neck and torso, according to police. Two hours later a woman, 44, was found stabbed on a subway train in Manhattan, and she later died in hospital.
