Kanye West spotted ‘still wearing wedding ring’ after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce

· March 5, 2021 ·

Kim Kardashian may have filed for divorce from Kanye West just a few weeks ago but it appears the rapper may not be giving up hope of a reconciliation with his wife just yet. The 43-year-old was spotted flashing his wedding ring as he closed his car door outside of his Calabasas office. Flashing what appeared to be a smile, Kanye also looked like he was head to toe in his Yeezy line, wearing a dark grey shirt matched with blue trousers. The Gold Digger singer is said to be hoping to work things out with the mother of his four kids, according to a source close to the star. But the source also told ET that Kanye doesn’t expect any reconciliation to happen in the immediate future. However, Kim is said to be “happy to see that chapter close” as she filed the divorce papers. Sources shared that the singer hadn’t been doing well since the divorce was filed and had been trying to distract himself with work. Kim, 40, took steps to end the pair’s six-year marriage and they … [Read more...] about Kanye West spotted ‘still wearing wedding ring’ after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce

Beijing declares only ‘patriots’ should rule Hong Kong as elections delayed again

· March 5, 2021 ·

Beijing has declared that only "patriots" should rule Hong Kong - and unveiled plans to change the city's electoral system to ensure just that. Candidates for election to the Legislative Council - Hong Kong 's parliament - will be vetted, according to the proposed changes. And elections scheduled for 2020, already postponed for a year, will be pushed back to 2022. "The rioting and turbulence that occurred in the Hong Kong society reveals that the existing electoral system in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has clear loopholes and deficiencies," said Wang Chen, vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, according to state media. The NPC, China 's annual parliament, is meeting in Beijing this week. The changes to Hong Kong's electoral system are only a proposal but will almost certainly be approved given the rubber stamp nature of the NPC. "Loopholes" is one of Beijing's favourite terms for describing aspects of … [Read more...] about Beijing declares only ‘patriots’ should rule Hong Kong as elections delayed again

Jimmy Lai: Hong Kong media tycoon and democracy advocate denied bail

· February 18, 2021 ·

Another court has denied bail to Hong Kong media tycoon and democracy campaigner Jimmy Lai ahead of his April trial. He is accused of colluding with foreign elements to endanger national security, apparently for tweets he made and interviews or commentaries he gave to international media. Hong Kong's High Court said it would publish its reasons for rejecting Thursday's application at a later date. Hong Kong schools to teach children as young as six about colluding with foreign forces Last week the Court of Final Appeal ruled a lower court's decision last year to grant Mr Lai bail applied "an erroneous line of reasoning", but allowed his team to go to the High Court. Iraqi Christians in Germany have high hopes for Pope Francis’ visit to their old home

· January 5, 2021 ·

"Because of the pandemic, it is difficult to travel from Germany to Iraq. So everyone wants to follow the pope's visit on television or YouTube," says Raad Washan Sarah Sharafana, a priest in Berlin. He belongs to the Chaldeans, the Iraqi branch of Catholicism. For weeks now, when he celebrates Mass in the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd, the 51-year-old has also been praying for a safe and successful journey for the pope. Never before has the head of the Catholic Church visited Iraq. And seldom has one of the pontiff's 32 visits abroad raised as many expectations as the upcoming four-day tour.
