STRICTLY Come Dancing has been hit with fresh fix claims as viewers complain that judge Craig Revel Horwood previously directed and choreographed Alexandra Burke in Sister Act The Musical. On Saturday night the 29-year-old X Factor winner put on a stunning performance as she jived to Proud Mary, earning an astonishing 39 points. Giving a rare seal of approval, Craig told her: “I have no idea where all that came from darling. “You were out there dancing to split the atom, my goodness you created a nuclear reaction. Incredible.” However many found the fact that Craig had “no idea” where Alexandra’s jaw dropping routine came from strange, seeing as he choreographed her while during her stint in Sister Act The Musical last year. One furious fan tweeted: “Alexandra – straight from one CRH production Sister Act the Musical, to another SCD ! Says it all, totally devalues the show!” Another added: “#StrictlyComeDancing2017 why is … [Read more...] about Strictly hit with fix row as it’s revealed Alexandra was coached by Craig in musical

STRICTLY Come Dancing is in crisis as big-name celebs snub the show because they fear its “curse”. BBC bosses have struggled to attract A-listers as they are afraid their relationships will go the same way as Louise Redknapp’s. The former Eternal singer, 42, was last year’s runner-up but has now split from football pundit hubby Jamie, 44. Several other contestants’ relationships have also failed since the show started in 2004. A BBC source said: “The curse is real and it contributed to the breakdown of one of the strongest couples in showbiz. “No one wants to end up in the same boat.” It has left Strictly with one of the weakest line-ups in recent years. The source said: “It’s a dire line-up and everyone knows it. Some of them are bound to only last weeks as no-one has ever heard of them. Girls Aloud vow they WON'T reunite as concerns grow over Sarah Harding's behaviour on CBB Life-long Red Devils fan Usain Bolt to play for … [Read more...] about Strictly Come Dancing in crisis as big-name celebs snub show for fear of its ‘curse’

Alexandra Burke sprinkles a little bit of stardust over this touring production of musical comedy Sister Act. Burke - who won TV talent show The X Factor in 2008 - has great fun playing Deloris Van Cartier, a nightclub singer spirited away to a nunnery after witnessing a mob shooting. Deloris inevitably annoys the Mother Superior with her brash personality, but wins over the other nuns by turning them from hopeless caterwauling singers into a brilliant choir. The role was made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1992 movie and it is a great part combining comedy, drama and singing. Burke has the voice to make a more natural nightclub singer than actress and comedienne Goldberg ever did - she has sold millions of records, after all. What is the best thing to come out of Hastings? Some say the A21, but I say, without hesitation, the Variety Spectacular by The Hastings Stage Studio. The Studio is run by professional stalwarts John and Vanessa Pohlhammer who are to song and dance what Gareth Malone is to choirs. Their particular brand of alchemy is to take a large group of performers, of all ages and abilities, and transform them into a dazzling, song-belting, tap-dancing troupe that brought the house down at The White Rock Theatre last Thursday and Friday. In these politically uncertain times, I defy even a tone-deaf old mugwump not to come out of the theatre uplifted and entertained by this heart-warming show. There were some wonderful big production numbers including the orphanage scene from Annie the musical, a Sister Act 2 gospel ensemble, Footloose, Me Ol' Bamboo, and my personal favourite, a fast Charleston. The highly expressive modern dance in Human, complicated hip-hop moves in Sorry and funky … [Read more...] about Audiences wowed by sheer talent in Variety Spectacular

Sister Act is a big energetic show and Alexandra has shared with the Burton Mail her secrets to maintaining her energy levels night after night for all that inspirational dancing and singing. "I've found that running while singing has been a good way to prepare for Sister Act. The show involves a lot of dancing and a lot of jumping up and down while singing so this was ideal training," she said. "Doing six or seven shows a week is very demanding and you need to look after yourself to make sure you have the stamina so typically I'd be in the gym five or six times a week doing circuit training and cardio work." The celebrated show tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a … [Read more...] about Alexandra Burke continues to tour in the hit musical Sister Act
