Rod Stewart has claimed he was banned from singing a song on BBC Radio 2 as it was "anti-English". The 73-year-old performed a live acoustic set on the Chris Evans' show on Friday and says he was prevented from singing the song 'Grace'. But bosses at the BBC have hit back at Rod, who supports Celtic , saying he was not banned from performing the tune from his new album Blood Red Roses. They also state that the BBC does not ban songs. In an interview with Billboard, Rod said: "Also, they won’t let me sing “Grace” because of its Irish, anti-English overtones in the song. "Forget about it, it’s one of the greatest love songs ever written. "The guy goes to his death 15 minutes the next morning after he’s been married and I can’t sing that one either." 'Grace' is one of three covers recorded by the veteran rocker on his new album which was released yesterday. The song was written about Joseph Plunkett and Grace Clifford, who were sweethearts, and who … [Read more...] about Rod Stewart ‘banned’ by BBC from singing ‘Celtic song’ as it is ‘anti-English’

UK Eurovision singer SuRie has turned down the offer to sing again in tonight's contest - despite her performance disrupted by a terrifying stage invasion. It has been confirmed that organisers of the Eurovision Song Contest have offered SuRie the chance to sing again, after a man stormed the stage during her performance of the song Storm. The man shouted a political message after grabbing her microphone, before being wrestled off stage by organisers. But, incredibly, SuRie kept her cool and was able to continue singing the song when a microphone was returned to her, belting out the lyrics: "Hold your head up, hey brother don’t give up”. The EBU have confirmed they offered SuRie the opportunity to sing again at the end of the show. But SuRie declined, as she and her team are: "extremely proud of her performance and have together decided there is absolutely no reason to perform the song again.” BBC commentator Graham Norton also updated the TV audience with the news, … [Read more...] about SuRie WON’T sing Eurovision song again after stage invasion
In the post-Brexit world we’re living in, standing in front of all of Europe and asking for their votes on behalf of the United Kingdom is, for most of us, an unenviable task. However, it’s one that singer/songwriter and former West End star SuRie has accepted with gusto. Earlier this year, the British public chose SuRie to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her song, ‘Storm’, winning the viewer-voted selection show, ‘You Decide’, live in Brighton. It’s been a while since Britain has had any joy at Eurovision (it’s now been more than two decades since we last won, while in the last five years, our most successful act finished in 15th place of 26 competing countries), but SuRie is adamant the nation’s past disappointments won’t deter her. “Look at Brighton,” SuRie reminds HuffPost UK. “I was nowhere near the top of the betting odds for Brighton. “I’ve learned at … [Read more...] about Eurovision 2018: SuRie Reveals How She Thinks The Song Contest ‘Could Save The World’

This is the heartbreaking moment a mother sang a beautiful song to her terminally-ill baby son in a hospital ward - before a crowd of nurses who had been watching burst into a round of applause. Abigail Tanner had taken her one-year-old son Lincoln, who has a very rare form of terminal epilepsy called Malignant Migrating Partial Seizures of Infancy (MMPSI), for a neurology appointment. Sitting down by a piano in between hospital appointments at the Duke Cancer Institute with a couple of minutes spare, she said she had a sacred moment singing to her son. Abigail, from South Carolina, USA, began singing 'Never Enough' from 'The Greatest Show man,' a film she loves. She told wect.com she thought about the song in the context of what it would be like to lose her son, and really thought about what the lyrics meant. "I had a moment without all the other kids. I just had Lincoln, and so yeah, you know it was just a sacred moment between Lincoln and I just signing a little song from a … [Read more...] about Mum sings beautiful song to terminally-ill baby son in hospital ward
