Italian ambassador to DR Congo dies in attack on UN convoy

The Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luca Attanasio, was killed on Monday during a visit to the eastern part of the country in a World Food Program (WFP) convoy. "The three fatalities have been identified as the Italian Ambassador to DRC, Luca Attanasio, an Italian embassy official, and a WFP driver," the UN agency said in a statement. Other passengers were also injured as the delegation was set to visit a WFP school feeding program, the agency added. Italy’s Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio left a meeting in Brussels to return to Rome following the news. "The circumstances of this brutal attack are not yet known and no effort will be spared to shed light on what happened," Di Maio said on Facebook , h o noring the victims as "two servants of the state . THOUSANDS of pubs, restaurants, hairdressers and bingo halls across England are now open as lockdown measures are eased. July 4 marked the start of the phase three of Boris Johnson's plan to get the country back to some normality while also trying to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Brits can get haircut, watch a blockbuster film and go to church from this weekend as long as the businesses are Covid-19 secure. It means pubs and restaurants will be limited to table service , while hairdressers will have to wear visors as they work . VARIOUS prison riots in Ecuador have claimed the lives of nearly 80 inmates. Local authorities have now regained control of the detention centers in three different cities after days of turmoil. The agency responsible for the prisoners claimed that 37 of them died in the city of Guayaquil, 34 in the city of Cuenca, and eight in the central city of Latacunga.
