Leading Conservatives taking to the airwaves since the Chris Pincher scandal have been repeatedly quizzed on what the Prime Minister knew and Number 10’s response to the crisis . Here is what each minister said: Friday, July 1: Simon Hart, Welsh Secretary Simon Hart did the morning media rounds for the Government and was unable to confirm whether the alleged assault was being formally investigated . He said it was "early days yet" and that from the perspective of the alleged victims, it could be "counter-productive" to rush any probe. He said the Chief Whip would be having "conversations" throughout the day and that "we might be having a very different conversation as the day goes on". The most famous story about modern presidential campaigning now has a quaint old-world tone. It’s about the showdown between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy in the first debate of their 1960 campaign, which was also the very first nationally televised general-election debate in the United States. The story is that Kennedy looked great, which is true, and Nixon looked terrible, which is also true—and that this visual difference had an unexpected electoral effect. As Theodore H. White described it in his hugely influential book The Making of the President 1960 , which has set the model for campaign coverage ever since, “sample surveys” after the debate found that people who had only heard Kennedy and Nixon talking, over the radio, thought that the debate had been a tie. Boris Johnson ’s government has continued to slowly fall apart as a growing number of ministers head for the door. A wave of resignations was triggered when health secretary Sajid Javid left the Cabinet last night over the handling of the Chris Pincher groping scandal. Minutes later, chancellor Rishi Sunak walked, two moves which threatened to bring down the government entirely. Outrage is growing over Johnson’s admission that he knew about a sexual assault allegation when he promoted him to deputy chief whip. Shameless Boris Johnson was clinging desperately to power tonight after a humiliating 24 hours and a dramatic collapse in Tory support. Conservative MPs were aghast that the Prime Minister told his Cabinet that he was staying put to go after they tried to oust him. But with his leadership drawing to a close, he was holed up in Downing Street despite the Tory Party’s ‘men in grey suits’ saying his time was up. It is perfectly legal to choose to educate your children at home, and if you do make that choice there is no obligation to follow a particular curriculum. It is also perfectly legal to run a part-time tuition centre to offer additional teaching and support to children who are home-educated. And if your part-time education centre teaches children for fewer than 20 hours a week there are remarkably few obligations. The mum of a 19-year-old whose body was found two weeks after he went missing has rejected an apology from the Metropolitan Police . Evidence Joel said she was ‘dismissed’ by officers ‘in the darkest period of my life’ after reporting the disappearance of Richard Okorogheye. Richard, who had sickle cell anaemia and had been shielding as a vulnerable adult, went missing from his home in West London on March 22, 2021. The loving son was last seen on CCTV walking towards Epping Forest in Essex. His body was found at the beauty spot, located 20 miles from his family home in Ladbroke Grove, on April 5. Ms Joel had tried on a number of occasions to make the police aware that the bright Oxford Brookes student had sickle cell and had left his home without his medication. She made an appearance at at a garden party at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens this afternoon, and could be seen greeting guests with Northern Ireland Secretary of State Brandon Lewis. It is the first annual garden party held at the castle since the beginning of the Covid pandemic. The party was held to honour community workers. Anne also visited Ballymena in Co Antrim, and an equine rehabilitation centre as part of her one-day trip to Northern Ireland.
