The first footage of futuristic zero-emission seagliders that could slash the cost of flying around New Zealand has been released. Ocean Flyer has ordered 25 electric seagliders for the New Zealand market , which will be used to fly passengers between coastal cities and towns for a fraction of the price of traditional airlines. It’s estimated fares between Whangārei and Auckland could be as little as $30, or Christchurch and Wellington from $60. The revolutionary form of transport is part ferry, part plane and part hydrofoil – travelling at high speed just off the surface of the water using a phenomenon known as the "in ground effect". This means close to the ground lift is increased, and drag decreased - offering the seagliders greater range. A Russian state TV pundit has called for Britain to be bombed 'back to the Stone Age' with missile strikes on the country's power stations. Yaakov Kedmi, a Moscow-born former Israeli diplomat, said Russia's new hypersonic Zircon missile should be deployed to wipe out 50 or 60 power stations in the UK 'in ten minutes', plunging the country into darkness.
