USA Olympic gymnastics coach John Geddert has killed himself after being charged with human trafficking and sexual assault. Michigan state officials confirmed to WLNS that the coach died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Geddert, 63, was the head coach of the 2012 US women's Olympic gymnastics team, which won a gold medal. John Geddert was charged with two dozen crimes earlier on Thursday, including human trafficking, a step that prosecutors acknowledged was an uncommon use of Michigan law. He was also accused of lying to investigators in 2016 when he denied ever hearing complaints about disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar , who is serving decades in prison for sexually assaulting female athletes in a scandal that counted hundreds of victims and turned USA Gymnastics upside down. Ex-Olympics gymnastics coach John Geddert has killed himself after being charged with sexual assault and trafficking, it has been confirmed. The 63-year-old, who had ties to the notorious former Olympics doctor Larry Nassar, had been charged with multiple felonies in the hours before he died, according to court documents filed in Michigan, US. He took his own life on Thursday afternoon, according to Attorney General Dana Nessel's office. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wounds, WLNS reports. Geddert was coach of the US women's team that won gold at the 2012 Olympics. His alleged felonies consist of 20 counts of human trafficking and one count each of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, criminal enterprise and lying to a police officer.
