LAUNDRY is the bane of every parents' life, but what if there was a way to cut it out? Mum-of-four Jennifer Barton, 38, from South London, is set to save £2,000 in a year as well as three hours of her time every week, after making the decision to rent her kids' clothes instead of buying them. Sound appealing? Jennifer shared her tips with Fabulous - so you can do the same... When our monthly clothing parcel arrives on our doorstep from thelittleloop, there’s a flurry of excitement - in fact, it almost feels like it’s Christmas all over again. My daughters - Diana, 10, Liv, eight, Stella, five, and Ada, three - rush downstairs to unpack the parcel: they know what’s in there since they went on a ‘shopping spree’ on the website just a few days ago. The clothes are even lovelier up close: a rainbow striped skater dress from Kite, a sunflower frock that feels like summer from Frugi, a smart grey pinafore skirt from Jackalo... In a month, we’ll pack everything up … [Read more...] about I’m a mum-of-four & I’ll save £2k by RENTING my kids’ clothes – I’m saving three hours a week by skipping laundry too

Money expert explains how to give your kids a £2.1million pension pot by saving £8 a day
A MONEY expert has explained how to give your kids a £2.1million pension pot by saving £7.90 a day in their first 10 years. Parents can give their offsprings the retirement windfall by setting up a so-called Junior Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) when they're born. The account lets you save up to £2,880 tax-free each year, and the government then tops it up by 25%, transforming it to £3,600. This is the equivalent of £7.90 a day, or almost £245 over a 31-day month. By leaving that money to grow in value, the sum could be worth £2.1million by the time your kids turn 65. This is based on the investment return of a normal index tracker fund, which typically goes up by around 7% per year on average. Of course, not all households will be able to save £8 a day for their children. But the tip is a good example of how an early start can boost your pot thanks to compound interest, while making the most of government cash on offer. Nurses threaten to strike over ‘insulting’ 1% NHS pay rise as £35m fund set up
The Royal College of Nursing is setting up an emergency fund for strike action over the proposed 1% NHS pay rise. The drum beat towards industrial action in the health service appears to have started after Unite also said it will consider holding ballots. Workers are furious at the proposal from the Government which would amount to a real terms pay cut after inflation. The Department of Health and Social Care has submitted its proposal to the NHS pay review body, which will decide in May how much of a salary uplift the vast majority of NHS staff across the UK should get in 2021-22. The 1% rise would apply to all staff apart from junior doctors, GPs and dentists. Do you have a view on this story? Let us know in the comments below. After the news was slipped out on Thursday afternoon the RCN convened an emergency meeting on Friday and voted unanimously to set up a £35 million Industrial Action fund. The strike fund could be used to pay members if they lose income in … [Read more...] about Nurses threaten to strike over ‘insulting’ 1% NHS pay rise as £35m fund set up
Matt Hancock unlawfully failed to publish more than 500 Covid contracts in time, High Court confirms
Matt Hancock unlawfully failed to publish details of more than 500 Covid contracts within the required time, the High Court has confirmed. The Good Law Project took legal action against the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for its "wholesale failure" to disclose details of contracts agreed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Government is required by law to publish the details within 30 days of them being awarded. At a hearing last month, Mr Justice Chamberlain said that "in a substantial number of cases, the Secretary of State breached his legal obligation to publish contract award notices within 30 days of the award of contracts". And in a further ruling today, the judge said the DHSC "acted unlawfully by failing to publish contract award notices for relevant contracts for supplies and services relating to Covid-19 within the 30-day period required... in respect of 504 of the 535 contracts awarded on or before October 7 2020 - i.e. 94%". He added: "The defendant … [Read more...] about Matt Hancock unlawfully failed to publish more than 500 Covid contracts in time, High Court confirms
3 times Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock said they wanted to ‘reward’ NHS heroes
Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock are under fire today over the government's proposal to hand NHS staff a real-terms pay cut in thanks for their hard work during the pandemic. The proposed 1% pay deal has sparked fury among NHS staff and unions, who branded it a "kick in the teeth". And their anger has been made worse NHS workers being led to believe they would be "rewarded" for their life-saving efforts tackling Covid-19 - preferably with something more than weekly applause. The PM and Health Secretary have repeatedly suggested a financial reward would be coming during TV interviews, press conferences and in the House of Commons. Here's a round up of just some of the times they've raised health workers' hopes. We want to hear from NHS & care staff - tell us about your last year and how you feel about the one per cent pay rise plan.
