A couple claim they have been forced to live in the front seats of their CAR for the past four months after being unable to find a home where they can keep their beloved dogs. Jennifer Tysoe, 70, and husband Nigel, 54, took in their neighbour's two pets after they died before being made homeless in January this year. They spent six months sofa-surfing while looking for a new house but no accommodation could be found which would allow their dogs. The pair say they have been left with little alternative than to live in their Peugeot 208 where they have been sleeping since July. They have refused to give up cocker spaniel Becky and Staffordshire bull terrier Titan after making a lifelong promise to their friends to look after them. The couple, formerly of Lovat Drive, Northampton, have lived and worked in the town all their lives and had planned to spend a peaceful retirement in their home. But their marital home was repossessed after Nigel was unable to continue working following a … [Read more...] about Couple live in CAR for 4 months as landlords won’t accept dogs
Separated couples living together
LOVE was certainly in the air for one couple, after a seating mix-up on board an easyJet flight brought them together. Adaya Cohen, 24, thought Michael Hoffman, 27, had taken her window seat on a flight from London to Tel Aviv, Israel. When she asked him to move they got talking – and sparks flew. After saying goodbye five hours later, Michael couldn’t get Adaya out of his mind – and tracked her down on Facebook and invited her out for sushi a few days later. Now living together in London, three years after falling in love at first flight back in September 2015, Adaya confessed: “I felt like we really hit it off and was a bit disappointed when he didn’t ask for my number before we landed. “I thought he just wasn’t interested, or maybe he had a girlfriend. When I got the message a few days later, I said yes straight away. “It’s so strange to have such a connection with someone you’ve known for just a few hours.” When they … [Read more...] about Student, 27, fell for woman who accused him of sitting in her seat on an easyJet flight… and now they live together after he found her on Facebook

There more than 6 million cohabiting couples in the UK right now and the number is fast rising. According to Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures, one in eight people aged 16 and over in England and Wales are currently living together, a number that's risen for the past 15 years in a row. Millions of these households have children together - but no measures in place to protect their property or finances in the event of a split. Half of them share a mortgage together. Despite such a huge investment, most couples say they 'trust' the other person to fix it all fairly in the event of a split. But we all know that some break-ups can be bitter - not to mention messy - which could leave you out of pocket and even cost you your own savings. In a report by Turbervilles Solicitors 1,000 couples were asked why they had no protection in place. A third said that they trusted their partner would give them a financial contribution if they split up, a quarter said they just hadn't got … [Read more...] about 6m couples take the next step by living together
It is a far more common practice today than it ever was - that couples are choosing to live together but not to enter into marriage or a civil partnership. In fact, according to Office for National Statistics, 17% of all families in the UK are unmarried - doubling from 1.5 million in 1996 to 3.3 million in 2016. The arrangements people choose with their partners is their own affair but it's important for those who live together - also know as cohabitation - to be aware that they do not have the same rights as a married couple or those in a civil partnership. Of course, there can be a lot of misconceptions about this, particularly if the relationship breaks down and the couple decide to go their separate ways. For example, there is no such thing as a "common law wife or husband" - a phrase which can be bandied about quite frequently. Issues of money, property and custody of children can come to the fore when partners decide to split - and this can be harder to untangle in the case of … [Read more...] about Living together but not married?
