AN IT consultant from Swindon made £2,500 in a year by flogging his old phones, tablets and CDs online. Self-confessed gadget lover, Andrew Jacob, 33, can't resist the latest high-tech gear but it means that his home is filled with old models gathering dust. After upgrading his work phone in April this year, Andrew, who lives in Swindon, decided to cash in his old Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (64gb) to an upcycling website for £405. He made another £350 the following September by cashing in his personal iPhone 8 (64gb) and put the funds from both handsets into buying the latest iPhone XR. Inspired, Andrew, who lives on his own, realised that he could make money from old CDs and DVDs too. "I always buy my phones outright because I like the latest model, but it can be a pretty expensive habit," Andrew explained. SHOPPERS have mocked John Lewis for "not selling pianos" despite being the main focus of its Christmas advert starring Elton John this year. The department store has started stocking digital pianos today but fans on Twitter are laughing at the chain for only selling them to tie in with its £7million commercial. John Lewis launched three digital pianos for a cool £872 as well as three keyboards after releasing its much-hyped Christmas advert today. But it doesn't have any grand pianos or any non-digital instruments. Elton John is seen playing a normal upright piano and a grand piano at different points in the commercial. The advert, called The Boy and the Piano, takes viewers through key moments in Elton John's life, and showing how the gift of a piano from his grandmother helped inspire him to superstardom. A WHITE police officer has sparked fury after he was filmed on video apparently manhandling a young black rapper. A clip has emerged today showing the cop seizing the 12-year-old performer in a shopping centre in Atlanta and threatening to send him to jail. The boy called Corey Jackson is also known as young Rapper Lil C-Note. Last year he appeared on the daytime chat show Ellen where his entrepreneurial spirit made him a hit with viewers. But after trying to sell his CDs in his local mall, he was apprehended by an officer. In the video, filmed by the Corey’s aunt, the police officer tells him: “You’re about to go to jail. “You’re going to go to a youth detention centre.” Meanwhile the pint-sized rapper tries to wriggle free. The footage, which was filmed on October 6, also shows the police officer seemingly becoming physical with the youngster’s aunt. She can be heard becoming worried for her nephew. Vivendi SA said it will sell up to half of Universal Music Group, cashing in on a surge in music streaming that has infused new life into the industry after years of decline. The French media conglomerate will sell the stake to one or more “strategic partners” and has ruled out an initial public offering -- long seen by analysts as a likely option -- because it is too complex.Vivendi will establish a floor price for the stake and the sale will probably go ahead “this fall,” with completion possible within the next 18 months, Vivendi said in a statement.
