Canadian Grand Prix 2017: Kimi Raikkonen has a point to prove as ‘little bits and pieces’ help Lewis Hamilton
Little bits and pieces. That was what Lewis Hamilton spoke of ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix on Friday. Little bits and pieces which Mercedes’s engineers have changed on the set-up of his car, and the sister model of team-mate Valtteri Bottas after they were squashed by Ferrari in Monte Carlo. Whatever those little bits and pieces were – and it’s believe that they centred upon minor adjustments such as brake balance and suspension settings in order to get the tyres working in their correct temperature window – they appeared to make a big difference here. Its heavy demands on braking see drivers jumping hard on the left pedal for 19 per cent of the lap, and experiencing decelerative forces up to … [Read more...] about Canadian Grand Prix 2017: Kimi Raikkonen has a point to prove as ‘little bits and pieces’ help Lewis Hamilton

Rediscovered Francis Bacon portraits up for auction
Published 27 April 2015 Share close Share page Copy link About sharing Two self-portraits by Francis Bacon are going on public display for the first time after being rediscovered in a private collection, before being sold. The artworks are titled Self-Portrait 1975 and Three Studies for Self-Portrait (1980). Self-Portrait (1975) and Three Studies for Self-Portrait (1980) were known to exist but it was not known who owned them. The descendents of the collector decided to put them up for auction earlier this year. The sale also saw Andy Warhol's One Dollar Bill fetch £20.9m. Bacon's Self-Portrait 1975 sold for £15.3m, while the triptych Three Studies for Self-Portrait reached £14.7m. Bristol City Council and Arts Council England said it was withholding funds from St Pauls Afrikan Caribbean Carnival (SPACC) with immediate effect. In a statement, the council said its funding criteria included a carnival but SPACC had failed to deliver one in 2015 and had no "clear plans" for 2016. Cleo Lake, from SPACC, said she "cannot understand" the decision. The annual carnival, which is a celebration of the city's Afro-Caribbean culture, dates back to the 1960s and is normally held in July. It is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe, with tens of thousands of people attending in 2014 .
