Flag optical illusion shows exactly how colour blindness works… so what do YOU see when the green and yellow vanishes?

AN image of the Union flag is leaving people baffled with the optical illusion showing exactly how colour blindness works. The BBC Horizon clip - which originally went to air in 1985 - has resurfaced online after being shared on Twitter by the BBC Archive, and depicts a green, yellow and black version of the flag. The narrator urges viewers to stare at the black dot in the centre of the flag for 20 seconds - and soon after, the image will disappear showing a blank, white screen. But while it looks like nothing more than a white screen, a lot of people actually continue to see the flag but in it's traditional colours - red, blue and white. The narrator refers to this as the "three receptor theory" and, as it turns out, there's quite a simple explanation for it. The number of people claiming Universal Credit has soared because of the coronavirus crisis. Walkers has launched brand new Flamin’ Hot crisps and they’re bright red

WALKERS has launched brand new, Flamin' Hot crisps which are so spicy they're actually red. Available now in selected stores, the spicy crisps are made with beetroot, fiery chilli flakes and paprika extract. Walkers claims that this combination makes the crisps an ideal level of heat whilst also creating a naturally vivid shade of red. Suitable for vegetarians, the hot new flavour can be bought in grab bags, sharing packs and multipacks from retailers nationwide. Prices will vary depending on your supermarket of choice - with multipacks priced at £1.65 RRP for a multipack of six 25g bags. The Recommended Retail Price for 45g ‘Grab Bags’ is 85p while a 65g sharing pack is priced at £1. Supermarkets offering the new flavours include Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Co-op, but as the crisps have just launched you may need to shop around to find them on shelves. The Chase launches new spin-off series WITHOUT Bradley Walsh as Chasers challenge fans in weekly quizzes

THE Chase fans will soon put their wits against the brainbox panel as they go head-to-head in new series, The Chase EXTRA. Viewers of the hit ITV tea-time quiz show will be granted more mind-boggling challenges to get stuck into courtesy of the series of shorts, to be aired on the ITV Hub. The Chase 's regular host, Bradley Walsh , will be replaced by one of the super clever Chasers, who include Mark ‘The Beast Labbett’, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis. They will each present their own episode of The Chase EXTRA, drumming up a series of 10 questions for the contestant to tackle. The Chasers will also host their own unique interval which will show a different side to their clever characters, and see them telling jokes, giving quiz tips or playing a musical instrument. Tony Hendra dead: This Is Spinal Tap star dies aged 79 from Lou Gehrig’s disease

Tony Hendra has died at the age of 79. The satirist and star of This Is Spinal Tap had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in 2019. Wife Carla Hendra confirmed to The New York Times her husband's cause of death. He was best known for starring as the inept manager in cult classic, This Is Spinal Tap. Tony was British but have lived for many years in the United States. He had begun writing and performing while still a student at Cambridge University, working in the same circles as the future stars of Monty Python, such as John Cleese and Graham Chapman. In 1964, Tony and performing partner Nick Ullett took their act to the US, where he forged a career in acting, stand-up comedy, writing and publishing. He was named managing editor of humour magazine National Lampoon in the early 70s, solidifying his position in American satire.
