FED-up locals have hit out at "ignorant" parents for blocking their drives on the school run - and warned that tensions are threatening to "boil over". Cops in Northumbria have been swamped with complaints after a series of disputes as parents battle to drop off kids at Hill View Juniour Academy on Queen Alexandra Road, Sunderland. I pointed out that i wasn't parked - I was just waiting for the traffic further down the road to clear out of the way, because there were four or five cars trying to negotiate their way around each other and between the dozens of parked vehicles. "OK," says he, "carry on." The problem is that every inch of this long road - while it is protected end to end by double-yellow lines and zig-zags - is lined with illegally parked cars when it comes to school drop-off and pick-up time. Both sides of the road turn into car parks, making what should be a perfectly safe stretch a single lane hazard. So why didn't the traffic warden walk down and move them along, instead of tapping on my window? … [Read more...] about It’s time to ban parents from the school run
