Greg Davies is so unimpressed by Daisy May Cooper ’s vocal ability in tonight’s Never Mind The Christmas Buzzcocks that he offers money from his own pocket to any panelist who correctly guesses what she’s trying to sing. The Taskmaster presenter is joined by special guests Lauren Laverne, Holly Johnson and Asim Chaudhry for the festive episode, with resident team leaders Noel Fielding and This Country ’s Daisy returning too. In a preview clip shared exclusively with Metro.co.uk, the actress, along with comedian Asim stand up to hum the beginning of Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas in a game of the Intros Round but their talents are… unappreciated. Getting into the festive spirit, Daisy mimes hammering on a keyboard while humming and trying to convey the track through her eyes. It’s all to no avail though as a perplexed Lauren, who is given the task of guessing the song, is completely dumbfounded. ‘Can I just throw in, I don’t know what that is and I’ve … [Read more...] about Greg Davies so appalled by Daisy May Cooper’s humming on Buzzcock’s Christmas special he offers out £100 to panelists

What really happened to your Christmas post
Christmas didn’t so much come late as barely arrive at all for Sarah Merritt. By mid-December, there were six cards on the mantelpiece of her Chelmsford home; a month later, more than 10 times as many have landed on her doormat, typically in sporadic “dumps of 25 or 30” at a time. On January 13, the IT manager received a festive card that had been stamped a full month prior; on Wednesday, she got another. Handmade cards, cards from friends in Australia and Holland; “It’s such a shame they didn’t arrive in time,” the 47-year-old says. “They’re just in a pile at the moment. I can’t bring myself to throw them away.” Merritt is one of thousands beset by recent Royal Mail delays , where “significant disruption” to service currently spans 56 postcodes. People in areas from Bicester to Paisley have reported missing hospital appointment notifications, parking tickets, prescriptions, cheques, Covid tests, football tickets, even passports and wedding certificates, all due to absent post. … [Read more...] about What really happened to your Christmas post
My son was stabbed on Boxing Day and I had to turn off his life support machine – the pain was so immense
A DEVASTATED mum has told of her heart-breaking decision to turn off her son’s life support system after he fell victim to knife crime. Lisa Kilkenny’s son Joseph Whitchurch was just 16 when he was fatally stabbed in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire , during the early hours of Boxing Day 2020. He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries three days later. Joseph had spent Christmas Day with his family before asking if he could go to a friend’s house nearby for a few drinks. Lisa said: “We all sat down together to enjoy our Christmas Day dinner. Joseph said he was full and gave me a kiss to say thank you and ‘I love you’. “When he asked later if he could go to his friend’s I said ‘of course, but don’t be late’. He asked if I would order him a taxi to get him home and I said ‘of course’." Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 skipping PS4 & Xbox One claims insider
Despite rumours of a late 2022 release, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 may not launch until 2023 due to being ‘new gen only.’ While EA has announced that it’s in development, there are no formal details about the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order . However, the game is expected to be properly unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration event in May and previous rumours pointed to a potential 2022 release . The most recent rumours, however, say this is no longer the case and that EA won’t launch the sequel until 2023. The reason for this is because it will be ‘new gen only,’ meaning it is skipping the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and will only release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. While this is disappointing news for anyone who has yet to get their hands on either of the newer consoles, it’s increasingly likely that the older formats will be left behind in 2023 and beyond – with God Of War Ragnarök, for example, rumoured to be Sony’s last … [Read more...] about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 skipping PS4 & Xbox One claims insider
Secrets and Lies in the School Cafeteria
Late on a fall afternoon, a skeleton crew staffed the cafeteria at New Canaan High School, in Connecticut. Custodial workers cleaned up the day’s remains while one of the cooks prepped for the evening’s athletic banquet. To hear more feature stories, see our full list or get the Audm iPhone app. A woman entered quietly through the back door, the one designated for deliveries and employees. She wore a jacket over a loose gown. She clutched something to her chest that appeared to be a bag connected to an IV. “What are you doing here?” one of the workers asked. The woman said nothing. She shuffled to her small office. The door clicked shut. The workers exchanged looks. They’d heard that Marie Wilson had been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She had every right to stay home and rest. Yet here she was, hobbling into the kitchen near sunset, reporting for duty. There would be more days like this one. Days when Wilson endured life’s worst moments—a grandson’s leukemia … [Read more...] about Secrets and Lies in the School Cafeteria
Baby Keem Takes a Big Step on Kendrick Lamar’s
Photo: Allen J. Schaben/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images A good Kendrick Lamar feature can be a launchpad. Just ask a musician like Rapsody, whose star rose after she went toe to toe with K.Dot on To Pimp a Butterfly ’s “Complexion (A Zulu Love),” or Zacari, the singer who signed to Top Dawg Entertainment after smooth features on DAMN. and Lamar’s Black Panther soundtrack. Lamar’s latest, the long-awaited Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers , boasts one of the rapper’s more stacked guest lists with a verse from rap legend Ghostface Killah, a rare appearance by Portishead singer Beth Gibbons, a skit starring Zola ’s Taylour Paige, and three songs featuring rapper non grata Kodak Black, among others. But more than anyone, the person who best uses that Kendrick shine is the person he’s been working with the most of late: Baby Keem. Before Mr. Morale , Lamar’s biggest recent appearance since his 2018 Black Panther soundtrack was on Baby Keem’s debut album, The … [Read more...] about Baby Keem Takes a Big Step on Kendrick Lamar’s
Traditionalists, rejoice! Speaker Bernard Weatherill’s wig has been found
Good news for traditionalists who want to see the Commons Speaker in a full-bottomed wig for the state opening of Parliament. Sir Lindsay Hoyle promised to consider sporting the horsehair wig last worn by former Speaker Bernard Weatherill in the early 1990s, but said that he could only find a moth-eaten one. Step forward, Weatherill’s daughter-in-law Clare, who tells me the wig, below, has been in its original tin under her bed all along. Clare tells me: “It is not at all moth-eaten. Indeed, it has never been lost but passed down to my late husband when his father, Lord Weatherill died.” Clare’s late husband offered Sir Lindsay the wig “but nothing came of it”, she tells me. She adds: “Should Sir Lindsay want to have this wig, I am sure the family would agree to it.” Over to you, Mr Speaker. Lettuce for Sir Ed! Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has joined the growing band of politicians like Nadhim Zahawi and Brandon Lewis losing their middle aged spread. Davey tells … [Read more...] about Traditionalists, rejoice! Speaker Bernard Weatherill’s wig has been found

Brexit Diaries 30: Trade wars in the age of Brexit
Donald Trump threw his long dark shadow over Theresa May and her Brexit speech on Friday. The president had just blithely announced a global trade war . In the meantime there has been the usual spiral of escalations and things have taken a turn to the worse. Trump thinks that trade wars are easy to win and has widened the scope to German cars . Many of which are produced in the US, but details have never interested the president. And all this landed the UK prime minister in the unenviable position of having to warn off Donald Trump. Was not free trade, in the beginning, one of the main arguments for Brexit? Britain only needed to be free from the shackles of the EU in order to sign the most glorious trade deals – or so went the reasoning. And the first port of call would be the United States. According to a leaked government paper at least half of this Brexit bonus was supposed to come from a free trade agreement with the United States. As things stand, we wish the Brits the … [Read more...] about Brexit Diaries 30: Trade wars in the age of Brexit
