Dame Deborah James ’ friend and podcast co-host Lauren Mahon has spoken for the first time since the bowel cancer activist’s death a week ago, describing her as having ‘the most outrageous cackle and twinkle in her eye.’ Mahon shared her grief while being interviewed on BBC Breakfast and said the former head teacher and mother-of-two’s death hadn’t ‘really hit.’ ‘We have moments where it feels very real and a bit overwhelming, but I think it is all a bit surreal. She was the comeback kid, so it’s all been a bit surreal,’ Mahon said. Dame Deborah, known as Bowelbabe, died on June 28 aged 40 , having been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2016. She had co-hosted the You, Me And The Big C podcast with Mahon and Rachael Bland – who died in September 2018 aged 40 after treatment for breast cancer. Mahon, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31, also recounted memories of Dame Deborah for an episode You, Me And The Big C alongside Bland’s widow Steve … [Read more...] about ‘She had the most outrageous cackle and twinkle in her eye’: Dame Deborah James remembered by podcast co-host

Stranger Things creator teases shorter episodes for season 5 – but mammoth finale
*WARNING: Spoilers for Stranger Things below* Stranger Things fans have only just settled back down after that bumper season four finale, but bosses already have their sights set on an epic conclusion to the sci-fi drama. It was previously confirmed that series five we’ll see of the main gang in Hawkins, but there is a possibility for countless spin-offs to grace our screens instead. Ahead of the fifth and final season , creators the Duffer brothers revealed that they will be making one change to the upcoming episodes, giving viewers shorter instalments than the latest batch of instalments – which came in at way longer than an hour. ‘We don’t expect it to be as long. And the only reason we don’t expect to be as long is because typically – or this season, if you look at it, it’s almost a two-hour ramp up before our kids really get drawn into a supernatural mystery,’ Matt Duffer explained on the Happy Sad Confused podcast . ‘You get to know them, you get to … [Read more...] about Stranger Things creator teases shorter episodes for season 5 – but mammoth finale
Rihanna Becomes America’s Youngest Female Self-Made Billionaire, Knocking Kim Kardashian Down To Second Place | The Daily Wire
Rihanna just edged out Kim Kardashian to become the youngest female self-made billionaire in America, according to a New York Post report . The 34-year-old Grammy Award winner secured her spot on Forbes’ annual list of America’s richest self-made women for the third year in a row with a net worth of $1.4 billion. She earned the money thanks to her musical career, but most of the revenue came from selling products via her Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage X Fenty lingerie line. Rihanna is the 21st overall richest self-made woman and the only billionaire under 40 on the list. The next-youngest billionaire who made the cut is Kardashian, 41, boasting a net worth of $1.8 billion. Kardashian’s younger sister Kylie Jenner originally was the youngest billionaire per Forbes in 2018 but later had that title rescinded when it turned out her net worth was lower than initially estimated. Per the Post, Savage X Fenty is worth $3 billion, with Rihanna owning 30% … [Read more...] about Rihanna Becomes America’s Youngest Female Self-Made Billionaire, Knocking Kim Kardashian Down To Second Place | The Daily Wire
Five teens guilty of killing dad ‘because he looked like one of Ant and Dec’
Five teenagers have been convicted of killing a much-loved dad who was battered to death in a senseless and savage attack sparked by banter over his resemblance to Ant McPartlin . Danny Humble, 35, shared a joke with them as he and his partner made their way home from a meal and drinks in Cramlington, Northumberland, after lockdown rules were relaxed in May last year. But Newcastle Crown Court heard the atmosphere suddenly changed when the teens, then aged 16 to 18, surrounded him near an underpass and repeatedly punched and kicked him to the floor. Ex-soldier Alistair Dickson, 18, of Blyth, Northumberland, was found guilty of murder after jurors heard he stamped on Mr Humble’s head during the onslaught. The jury cleared his co-defendants of murder but found them guilty of manslaughter. They were 18-year-olds Ethan Scott, of Blyth; Kyros Robinson, from Seaton Delaval; Bailey Wilson, of Blyth; and a 17-year-old who cannot be identified by the media due to his age. … [Read more...] about Five teens guilty of killing dad ‘because he looked like one of Ant and Dec’
Anti-Meghan and Harry twitter accounts mistakenly trolled Sussex NHS trust
Anti- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Twitter -users appear to have mistakenly trolled mental health hospitals located in the area that gives the couple their royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Tweets targeted Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, an organisational unit within Britain's National Health Service in the county of Sussex. It has nothing to do with the couple's titles. Some tweets targeted a post about the organization's partnership with mental health texting service Shout, which is backed by Prince William and Kate Middleton . The negative comments tagged Shout's official Twitter account as well as the Sussex Partnership one. One comment on July 4 read: "Anything to do with them two lying scabs from America then it gets blocked now. Corruption attached to all Meghan Markle touches." Another replied with a critical blog post about Meghan and Harry only to be told they were not linked to Sussex Partnership. The account replied: "Yes, I see that … [Read more...] about Anti-Meghan and Harry twitter accounts mistakenly trolled Sussex NHS trust
PRAGER: A Response To 2 Secular Conservatives I Adore | The Daily Wire
In the latest edition of “The Rubin Report” podcast, two people I adore, Dave Rubin and Heather Mac Donald, dialogue about some of the great issues facing America. Interestingly, though both are secular, Dave opened the interview asking Heather about God and religion. She began by saying that she is not conservative because of religion but because of her commitment to empirical truth. It is empirical truth that leads her to affirm, for example, “the necessity of the two-parent family” and “most traditional values.” Heather is right that one cannot be committed to empirical truth and be a leftist (though one can be a conservative or a liberal). Left-wing assertions that men give birth; that America was founded in 1619 (when the first enslaved black was brought to the American colonies); that people can be lifted from poverty on a mass scale without capitalism; that there are no innate differences between men and women; that America is a racist nation; that women are paid less than … [Read more...] about PRAGER: A Response To 2 Secular Conservatives I Adore | The Daily Wire

Scott Mills is leaving BBC Radio 1 after 24 years at the network, making the move to Radio 2. The 49-year-old, who currently helms the drivetime slot and the Official Charts Show with Chris Stark, has been part of the station since 1998. He previously appeared on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show until 2004, before heading to the weekend afternoon slot for six months. It has now been confirmed that he will be replacing Steve Wright’s afternoon show, Steve Wright In The Afternoon, as part of a huge shake-up at the broadcaster. ‘Time actually does fly when you’re having fun, and that’s certainly been the case over the past 24 years at my beloved Radio 1,’ Scott said of the move. ‘The station I pretended to be on in my bedroom from the age of six. The station I told my mum I wanted to work at, but never in a million years thought I would. ‘There are too many people to thank from my Radio 1 journey. So to the immensely talented people I’ve worked with along the way, to … [Read more...] about Scott Mills confirms BBC Radio 1 exit after 24 years, replaces Steve Wright on Radio 2: ‘Onwards and upwards’

A ‘fight’ is said to have broken out during a live Mrs Brown’s Boys performance, resulting in security having to step in to calm audience members down, it’s been reported. A show based on the Brendan O’Carroll -led BBC sitcom – dubbed ‘the musical for Moore Street’ – is currently on tour, with a final date scheduled to be taking place in Dublin November this year. While fans of the programme have lauded the production for leaving them in hysterics, a recent show is said to have become somewhat chaotic when a ‘10-minute punch up’ took place in the audience. The performance in question was held in Glasgow over the weekend, with the brawl reported to have occurred soon after it began. According to the Irish Mirror , security stepped in to calm down those involved, resulting in the performance being stopped.
