Dieters should limit themselves to only eating between 7am and 3pm to lose more weight, a study suggests. Intermittent fasting is a popular dieting technique where a person can eat as much as they like, of whatever they like, within a set time frame every day. On its own it is a potent weight-loss tool, but when also combined with a healthy calorie-controlled diet the method can be highly effective at shifting pounds, shrinking waistlines and improving health. Researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham recruited 90 obese individuals and put all of them on a diet, with half also told they can only eat for eight hours a day between 7am and 3pm. Both groups received expert guidance on how to follow a diet, were told to stick to it for at least six days a week, and to do between 75 and 150 minutes of exercise a week. Blood pressure improved The study found that people who stopped eating at 3pm lost almost a stone over 14 weeks, while the control group lost only … [Read more...] about Revealed: The time you should stop eating to ‘lose more weight’

Denise Richards Reveals The Reason She Ended ‘Very Toxic’ Marriage With Charlie Sheen | The Daily Wire
Denise Richards says she had a very good reason for ending her “toxic” marriage to Charlie Sheen even though she was six months pregnant at the time. The “Wild Things” star discussed her deeper motivations during a recent conversation with Caroline Stanbury, the host of the “Divorced Not Dead” podcast . “The behind-the-scenes stuff was way worse than what was out there,” she said of their tumultuous relationship. “It was really bad.” Richards claimed she made the decision to leave after asking herself one important question. She told Stanbury she wondered, “Would I want my daughters to be married to this man?” Since the answer was a definitive no, the mother of three made the choice to leave him. “No offense to him, but I think he would take that and understand what I’m saying,” Richards continued. “It was very toxic.” Sheen and Richards were married from 2002 until 2006 and had two children together. The actress later adopted a daughter after their … [Read more...] about Denise Richards Reveals The Reason She Ended ‘Very Toxic’ Marriage With Charlie Sheen | The Daily Wire
British Volunteer Could Face Five Years in Prison for Smuggling Afghan Girl From Calais
Rob Lawrie faced an impossible decision while volunteering in the refugee and migrant camp in the northern French city of Calais known as "the Jungle" late last month. Lawrie, 49, a British ex-soldier, visited the the sprawling site several times in September and October to help residents build temporary shelters to replace their flimsy tents as the winter months drew nearer. On his first trip he met Bahar Ahmadi, a 4-year-old Afghan girl living in the camp with her father. On his seventh or eighth trip, he tried to take her to the U.K. "I formed a very strong bond with her and a strong relationship with her father," Lawrie told Newsweek by phone. "Her father asked me on several occasions to try and get her to [their] family, who happen to live five miles from where I live," in Leeds, northern England. Ahmadi and her father have lived in the Jungle for four months, while her mother and 18-month-old brother are still in Afghanistan, says Lawrie. Nearly a quarter of the 700,000 … [Read more...] about British Volunteer Could Face Five Years in Prison for Smuggling Afghan Girl From Calais

HUNDREDS of thousands of homeowners need to take action now or risk their mortgage repayments rocketing by a massive £2,000 a year. Anyone with a variable rate or tracker mortgage will see their costs increase after the Bank of England hiked the base rate of interest . The Bank has increased the rate from 1.25% to 1.75% piling pressure on homeowners. Up to December last year the rate was at a historic low of 0.1% but the bank has hiked rates several times in a row since then to tackle soaring inflation. Laura Suter, head of personal finance at AJ Bell, said: “Anyone coming to remortgage in the next couple of months faces a huge shock in how much their monthly costs are going to rise. Mortgage warning over ‘ticking time-bomb’ as FOUR lenders to stop processing applications
MORTGAGE lenders are blocking new applications from buyers amid a flurry of demand as interest rates rise. At least four mortgage providers have temporarily stopped processing applications. Coventry Building Society, Cambridge Building Society, Saffron Building Society, and Suffolk Building Society have all hit the pause button on new business. The move comes just days after the Bank of England hiked the base rate of interest to 1.75% and mortgage holders were urged to lock in to cheap deals while they were still available. Experts have warned of a mortgage "ticking time-bomb" as millions of homeowners on fixed deals which expire in the next 12 months are sitting on a knife edge, as mortgage rates are already thousands of pounds higher . Ray Boulger, technical director at broker John Charcol, said: "Lenders with the most competitive deals are receiving more applications than they can cope with and so they have two choices: increase their rates to reduce … [Read more...] about Mortgage warning over ‘ticking time-bomb’ as FOUR lenders to stop processing applications

University of California Ends ACT, SAT Testing For Admissions And Scholarships | The Daily Wire
The University of California announced a legal decision Friday that said its system will stop considering SAT and ACT scores in decisions for admissions and scholarships. As reported by The New York Times, the decision brings a long dispute to a conclusion. In 2019, a group of students, advocacy groups and the Compton Unified School District brought a lawsuit against the University of California system seeking to end its use of the tests to determine admissions. The Times reported, “The plaintiffs said that the college entrance tests are biased against poor and mainly Black and Hispanic students — and that by basing admissions decisions on those tests, the system illegally discriminates against applicants on the basis of their race, wealth and disability.” According to the Times, the College Board, which makes the SAT, said in January that it would get rid of subject tests and the optional essay portion. In the settlement decided on Friday, the university agreed that … [Read more...] about University of California Ends ACT, SAT Testing For Admissions And Scholarships | The Daily Wire

I’m curious to see what will be announced on Friday, especially as I’m interested to see who’ll be making it. I’ve seen some talk that we could be on the cusp of another survival horror renaissance, with The Callisto Protocol, Dead Space remake, Scorn, Alan Wake 2, more Resident Evil, and maybe even those rumours of a new Silent Hill. I remember the last time there was meant to be a breakthrough though, around the release of Alien Isolation, and that came to nothing so I’m not going to count this one as a given. Given how old some games are getting though, with nothing new to take their place, it also got me … [Read more...] about Games Inbox: Best survival horror game, Splatoon 3 changes, and Elden Ring completion times
