[Read more...] about Allargamento Nato, la risposta di Putin

[Read more...] about Putin camionista inaugura il ponte di Crimea

Official: 8 more die as Haiti prisons lack food, water
An official said Thursday that at least eight inmates have died at an overcrowded prison in Haiti that ran out of food two months ago, adding to dozens of similar deaths this year as the country’s institutions crumble. Hunger and oppressive heat contributed to the inmates’ deaths reported this week by the prison in the southwest city of Les Cayes, Ronald Richemond, the city’s government commissioner, told The Associated Press. He said the prison houses 833 inmates. “Whoever can help should help immediately because the prisoners are in need," he said. The United Nations Security Council released a report last week saying 54 prison deaths related to malnutrition were documented in Haiti between January and April alone in the country of more than 11 million people. It urged Haiti’s government “to take the necessary measures to find a long-lasting solution to the prison food, water and medicine crisis.” Recommended Over £130m handed to housing providers … [Read more...] about Official: 8 more die as Haiti prisons lack food, water

Cruise ship tragedy: Family, friends pay tribute to Indiana toddler who died after slipping from grandfather’s arms
Tributes have been paid to an Indiana toddler who died after reportedly slipping from her grandfather's arms on a cruise ship. The girl's grandfather was believed to have been holding her when she fell from the 11th story of the Freedom of the Seas cruise ship on Sunday, Police Sgt. Nelson Sotelo told The Associated Press. The authorities have not yet revealed the girl's name, but she has been identified as Chloe Wiegand by media outlets such as The Sun . At the time, the vessel run by the Royal Caribbean cruise firm was docked in the Panamerican dock in the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan. Britain's The Sun newspaper reported the girl's mother shared photos of her and her daughter on Facebook following the death. The mother's name was spelled both as Kimberley Schultz Wiegand and Kimberly Schultz Wiegand in the report. Friends and family paid tribute to the child according to the newspaper, with one writing: "Sweet angel. Lawyer for family whose toddler died in cruise ship window fall says company isn’t handing over “critical” surveillance footage
Royal Caribbean is yet to hand over surveillance footage of Sunday's tragedy aboard its cruise ship Freedom of the Seas in which an 18-month-old girl fell to her death from a high window while playing with her grandfather, according to the family's lawyer. Chloe Wiegand fell from an eleventh-storey window while the vessel was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico, after her grandfather Salvatore Anello placed her on a railing not realizing there was no glass behind her. According to Michael Winkelman, a maritime attorney acting for the family, Wiegand liked to bang on the glass at her brother's hockey games, and Anello thought she was about to do the same when she fell through what was, in fact, an open window. Police in Puerto Rico are investigating the incident and any potential negligence on the part of the family. But Winkelman has sought to shift blame onto the cruise ship operator for having an open window in a children's area without any warning signs, leading to a … [Read more...] about Lawyer for family whose toddler died in cruise ship window fall says company isn’t handing over “critical” surveillance footage
Death of cruise ship toddler who fell out window “could be murder”: Police
Police investigating the death of the 18-month girl who fell from a cruise ship while playing with her grandfather say they have not ruled out the possibility of bringing forward murder or homicide charges. Chloe Wiegand died after plummeting from the 11 th story of the Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas while it was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on July 7 . It was originally reported that the girl died after slipping from her grandfather's grasp as he held her by a window. The family has dismissed these reports, claiming Chloe accidentally fell through an open window in the kid's play area after being placed on a railing by her grandfather Salvatore Anello, who thought there was glass behind it. According to the family's lawyer, Michael Winkelman, Anello placed the child on the railing so she could bang on the glass, which she enjoyed doing while she was watching her brother's ice hockey games. Police investigating the death of the 18-month-old girl have said … [Read more...] about Death of cruise ship toddler who fell out window “could be murder”: Police
