Asan N'Jie has returned to social media with a defiant message, after being sacked from Emmerdale last month following his awards show brawl with Jamie Lomas. The actor shared an Instagram post on Saturday, thanking fans for their support as he vowed to 'finish what I started' and make a career comeback. The soap star was sacked by ITV from his role as Ellis Chapman on Emmerdale after threatening to kill Hollyoaks actor Jamie at the TV Choice Awards last month. The fugitive Catalan leader, Carles Puigdemont, has suspended his attempts to return to office but intends to preside over a government in exile and carry on his drive for independence from the safety of Belgium. Turkey's President Erdogan has vowed to press ahead with his attack on northern Syria in defiance of American demands for a ceasefire. 'We will never declare a ceasefire,' Erdogan declared on the eighth day of the invasion on Wednesday, adding: 'They are pressuring us to stop the operation. They are announcing sanctions. Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, the autocratic ruler of Tunisia whose 23-year rule was ended by the popular protests that triggered the 2011 Arab spring, has died in exile in Saudi Arabia. The 83-year-old had been seriously ill since being admitted to hospital last week, after years of treatment for prostate cancer. His body is to be transferred to Mecca, awaiting the family’s decision on burial arrangements, according to his lawyer, Mounir Ben Salha. A Tunisian court sentenced Ben Ali in absentia in 2011 to fines and time in prison on charges including misappropriating public funds and ordering the torture of army officers accused of launching a coup attempt against him. The following year, he was sentenced in absentia to life in jail for his role in the deaths of protesters during the Jasmine revolution that ousted him.
