In February 2015 Steven Pressley was fired from his role as manager of Coventry City Football Club after two years and 100 matches at the helm. He was sacked when the club slipped into the League One relegation zone and the club’s then chief executive, Steve Waggott, stated that the decision was “very difficult from a personal and professional point of view." He added: “Results over recent weeks and months, and our precarious position in the league table, means that a change of direction at first team level is needed.” His final game was against a very strong Sheffield United side in which City had taken a two goal lead but ended up drawing 2-2 - a decent away point in normal circumstances. Here’s the full story of Steven Pressley’s time at Coventry. BEFORE COVENTRY Prior to his arrival at the Ricoh Arena Pressley saw out his playing career at Falkirk, a club he would later go on to manage. He'd previously played for Celtic, Hearts and Dundee … [Read more...] about What happened to the most recent member of City’s 100 club?

Corrie legend Bill Roache could still be on the Street when he’s 100, his actor son reckons. Linus, 54, has backed his 86-year-old dad – the world’s longest serving soap star – to carry on as Ken Barlow until he gets his birthday telegram from the Queen. Bill has played Ken since Coronation Street launched in 1960. And even after a shattering year in which he lost daughter Vanya, he’s not ready to give up the role. Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is among Europe’s 100 most valuable players, according to latest figures. The Nigerian is calculated to be worth €62.7m (£55m), making him the 79th most expensive footballer playing in the continent’s top five divisions: the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. However, Ndidi’s price tag has dropped nearly €15m since January, when he was valued at €77.4m (£68m) and ranked 51st. The 21-year-old’s worth has been worked out by Swiss analytics company CIES Football Observatory , whose algorithm factors in position, age, nationality, club, contract length and, of course, ability. Ndidi’s depreciation could be due to a number of reasons. He has six months fewer on his contract, which runs to 2022, and he missed a chunk of games in the second half of the season due to suspension and injury, all while City’s form deteriorated. Nevertheless, Ndidi, who cost City … [Read more...] about Wilfred Ndidi still among Europe’s 100 most valuable players
