Deborah James is continuing to raise an incredible amount of money for Cancer Research UK after moving to end-of-life hospice care , with the total now having topped £5million. This week it was announced that the podcaster, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 and co-hosted the podcast You, Me and the Big C, had been awarded a Damehood for her charity work . Admitting that she felt as though she didn’t ‘deserve’ the recognition, the 40-year-old said that she felt ‘blown away and humbled’ to be made a Dame while thanking everyone for the support she’s received over the years. Her fundraiser, titled the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK , has now reached an astonishing £5.2m, with almost 250,000 people donating so far. The JustGiving page was only set up on Monday, making the achievement that much more staggering after she initially set a target of £250,000, thus raising more than 20 times her goal. The trial has heard allegations that Ronnie Coulter asked a woman to dispose of a bag containing the box and wet clothes the day after Mr Chhokar died. The retired police inspector who recovered the bag in 1998 said he had "no idea why" it was not in court. Mr Coulter denies murdering Mr Chhokar and has blamed two other men. The 48-year-old, from Wishaw, denies stabbing the 32-year-old in Garrion Street, Overtown, North Lanarkshire, on 4 November 1998. Mr Coulter has lodged a special defence blaming his nephew Andrew Coulter and another man, David Montgomery. Podcast host Deborah James has praised the Duke of Cambridge for "going above and beyond to make a very special memory" after he made her a dame at her family home. The 40-year-old, known online as Bowel Babe, was honoured for her "tireless campaigning" to raise awareness of bowel cancer. Dame Deborah posted pictures of Prince William with herself and her family on Instagram and has said the visit gave her family "so much to smile about in the sadness". In a post on Instagram, she said: "I believe I may have had the most surreal, mind blowing, humbling five days of my life.
