Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz USA TODAY Published 8:33 PM EST Dec 18, 2018 Correction: A previous version of the story incorrectly stated the team that had the most number of Pro Bowl selections. The story has been updated to reflect the accurate total. The Los Angeles Chargers continue to make a push for the AFC West title and the top seed in the playoffs, but they're already No. 1 in the NFL in another respect. The Chargers led the NFL in Pro Bowl selections with seven, as the full rosters were revealed Tuesday. Meanwhile, no Oakland Raiders players were picked, the first such occurrence for the franchise since 2003. The Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers also had no representatives. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady moved into a tie for the most Pro Bowl selections of all time with 14, joining Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Bruce Matthews and Merlin Olsen for the honor. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees earned his 12th career selection. Among … [Read more...] about Pro Bowl rosters 2019: Chargers lead with seven selections

Nate Davis USA TODAY Published 12:12 p.m. UTC Jul 19, 2018 It's time to dig into those playbooks and hit the ice baths. NFL training camps begin opening this week as veterans for the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears officially report for duty. Summer vacation ends for the league's other 30 teams next week. It won't be long after that until injuries begin to mount, holdouts potentially simmer and flare and other manners of controversy surface. But based on what I know (or think I know) as we embark on the NFL's 99th season, here's my annual prediction of how the season will unfold with record projections for each team based on picking all 256 games, plus a playoff forecast. NFC EAST Philadelphia Eagles (11-5): Underdogs no longer, the champs may be in for a rocky start based on a rough early schedule (particularly October, which includes a Thursday night road game and trip to London) that coincides with Carson Wentz's presumed re-entry from December's ACL tear. Dallas … [Read more...] about 2018 NFL record projections: Will Patriots falter on road to Super Bowl LIII?
Maybe he will be cut early. Maybe he will make the 53-man roster. Those decisions are beyond Ben Niemann’s control. But as the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker and Sycamore graduate heads into training camp, he’s focused on controlling what he can and letting the chips fall where they may. “I don’t know what’s going to happen – that’s all up to the coaches and the GM and the organization,” Niemann said. “All I can do is go in with a good attitude and play as hard as I can and give it a good effort. Whether I make it or not, I’ll have no regrets if I do that. That’s all I can ask for.” Niemann was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa. Organized team activities and minicamps came to an end in June, and training camp is set to start July 26. After participating in the team’s OTAs, he said the mental aspect of the game is something he will have to adjust to – specifically, the size of … [Read more...] about Sycamore grad Ben Niemann ready for training camp with the Chiefs
