Biter Robert Payne In a sickeningly vicious attack Payne bit and punched a woman outside a Cambridge hotel. The 32-year-old, has a chequered past with 30 separate convictions for 77 offences including theft, fraud, handling stolen goods and racially aggravated harassment. He savagely attacked the woman in Tenison Road just a month-and-a-half after being released from prison leading police to brand him "dangerous". In July he was jailed for 18 months, suspended for two years. ‘Highly intoxicated’ man spared jail for making death threat
James Coulter, 25, of Waveney Road, east Hull, received a six-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, must have six months of treatment for alcohol dependency, and up to 20 days rehabilitation, for making a threat to kill. Coulter was "highly intoxicated" and "the victim clearly believed the threat would be carried out". Coulter must pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge. Paul Marrino, 44, of Great Thornton Street, west Hull, was jailed for eight weeks for stealing three steaks, worth £36.32, from Morrisons in Holderness Road, east Hull, and assaulting a person by beating in the same store. He must pay £105 costs and a £115 surcharge. Marian Albu, 45, of Coltman Street, west Hull, received an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, must do 150 hours of unpaid work, and was banned from driving for three years, for failing to take a breath test when suspected of committing a traffic offence. Death crash driver spared jail sentence
A Ripon man has been spared an immediate jail sentence after causing the death of a disabled man in a horrific three-car crash near the city. Robert Hilton, 24, had crossed the double white lines on a sweeping bend when his Fiat Stilo hit a VW Golf carrying an elderly couple, then cannoned into a Mercedes carrying newly married 41-year-old Lloyd Edwards, driven by his wife Beverley, pictured below.Mr Edwards, of Ripon – who had been married just 11 days earlier and was on his way to a family Christening – was taken to hospital and fell into a coma after suffering multiple organ failure.
