Of all the Stones, he seemed the least likely to gather moss. While his Rolling Stones band mates continued the hedonistic partying, Mick Jagger gave up drugs when he met his second wife Jerry Hall in the mid seventies, allegedly after she told him his heroin cigarettes would ruin his looks. Since then, the father of eight (and grandfather of five, no less) has become known for his healthy lifestyle: he rarely drinks alcohol, instead enjoying vitamins and wheatgrass shot smoothies; and he maintains his 28-inch-waist with weekly workouts with his Norwegian personal trainer, Torje Eike, doing yoga, Pilates, and up to eight-mile long runs. Q: How long does it take to drive around Iceland? — A: Iceland’s main highway is a circular road going all around the island, known as the Ring Road or Route 1. The Ring Road covers 1,332km (828mi) and goes through all kinds of landscapes. It’s mostly a two-lane, paved road, but there are single-lane bridges along the way, and in East Iceland, short sections are still only gravel. The speed limit in Iceland is 90km/h (56mi/h) on paved rural roads, 80km/h (50mi/h) on unpaved rural roads, and 50km/h (31mi/h) in urban areas. If you were to drive all around Iceland in one go, it would take you about 20 hours – in perfect conditions. You probably don’t want to drive around Iceland without breaks, though, and in winter, this is definitely not a realistic estimate. What’s more useful to know is how much time you would need to comfortably see most of the natural attractions Iceland is famous for. In seven days, it’s possible to drive the … [Read more...] about How long does it take to drive around Iceland?
Mars, the fourth planet from the Sun in our galaxy, has enthralled stargazers for centuries and is named after the Roman god of war. Nasa’s Insight probe has landed on the planet in an attempt to find out more about what is bellow the planet’s surface. How far away is Mars? Mars, also known as the Red Planet, is 33.9million miles (54.6m kilometres) away from Earth. It is 141.6m miles (227.9m kilometres) away from the Sun. The planet has two moons, Phobos and Deimos, which are small and irregularly shaped and may even be asteroids that fell into the planet’s gravitational pull. Why is the planet red? It is often called the Red Planet due to its colouring that gives it a reddish appearance. This is due to the large amount of iron oxide (rust) found on its surface. The surface of Mars is mainly composed of tholeiitic basalt. It’s orbital period is equivalent to 687 Earth days with a Mars day lasting 24 hours and 39 minutes. How long does it take to get there? But what exactly is the "vomiting bug", what should you look out for and how long does it last? Here’s all you need to know… What is Norovirus? Norovirus is one of the most common stomach bugs in the UK and is also referred to as “the winter vomiting bug”, although it can affect people all year round. That sounds a bit gross and unlikely but it can happen – in particular when you touch a contaminated surface and then put your hand in your mouth - or if you eat food which has been contaminated. You can also catch it if you are in close proximity to an infected person and they breathe on … [Read more...] about What is the Norovirus, is it contagious, what are the symptoms of the vomiting bug, and how long does it last?
