The UK has recorded another 315 COVID-related deaths and 6,385 cases in the last 24 hours, according to government figures. This compares to the 343 coronavirus deaths and 6,391 new infections recorded on Tuesday. It comes as the number of people receiving the first dose of a vaccine nears the 21 million mark. Government data up to 2 March shows that of the 21,599,027 jabs given in the UK so far, 20,703,615 were first doses - a rise of 224,996 on the previous day. Some 895,412 were second doses, an increase of 51,314 on figures released the previous day. Hollyoaks actor Callum Kerr has warned fans his coercive control storyline as PC George Kiss is about to get even darker. Police officer George has been manipulating his boyfriend John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) as well as his ex boyfriend Dean. George even tricked John Paul into believing he had been murdered on New Year's Eve, sparking extreme emotional distress for his heartbroken spouse. And in recent horrifying scenes, George got violent with John Paul and punched him in the face during a row where John Paul said he was being isolated from his family. Seiko Hashimoto, the new president of the organising committee, was instrumenatl in the changes. Tory Rishi Sunak today announced changes to tax, furlough and Stamp Duty in his 2021 Budget . The Chancellor said he must take "unpopular" and "honest" decisions as he reversed some Tory Corporation Tax cuts and cancelled an Income Tax break for millions of Brits. He warned next year borrowing will hit £234bn or 10.3% of GDP - “an amount so large it has only one rival in recent history, this year”. And Covid spending including fiscal support has hit £407bn. But in reality the Chancellor put off many of the most painful decisions until later and gave businesses a huge tax break for now - one he claimed was the biggest in history.
