As the nation fixates on an intelligence whistleblower and what they may or may not know about Donald Trump's call with the Ukrainian President, another whistleblower is waiting in the wings. A federal employee told the Ways and Means Committee last month of possible evidence of 'improper influence' in the IRS's audit of Trump's tax returns. The existence of the whistleblower was contained in a quietly-filed motion by committee chair Richard Neal to a federal judge in an attempt to get hold of the President's tax returns, and was not widely reported at the time. But Nancy Pelosi's announcement of an impeachment inquiry into Trump, which will involve the Ways and Means Committee, has brought the claims into the spotlight. Richard Neal, chair of the Ways and Means committee, has also been contacted by a Trump whistleblower about 'improper interference' with the President's tax returns - but chose to keep their existence quiet 'in an effort to protect their job' Neal argued … [Read more...] about Trump’s OTHER whistleblower: Federal employee claims to have evidence suggesting ‘improper influence’ in IRS audit of the President’s tax returns

Rudy Giuliani said he’s not worried that President Trump will throw him under the bus as the impeachment inquiry heats up. ‘I’m not,’ he told the Guardian in a new interview, but I do have very, very good insurance, so if he does, all my hospital bills will be paid.’ Giuliani’s lawyer, who was also on the phone line, jumped in to say, ‘He’s joking.’ Rudy Giuliani joked in an interview with the Guardian that if the president threw him under the bus he had ‘very, very good insurance’ Some Republicans have said President Trump should cut Giuliani loose The Guardian posed the question after Axios reported Wednesday that Republicans are talking about how the president needs to distance himself from his personal lawyer - so he’s one step away from any wrongdoing. ‘[T]his is not an impeachment of Rudy Giuliani, it’s not an impeachment of Ambassador Sondland. Michael Bloomberg has his own history of locker room talk, which could make it difficult for him to win a Democratic primary in the #MeToo era. The New York Times did a deep dive on the lewd and tawdry comments he's made over the years, prompting his spokesman to produce a mea culpa. 'Mike has come to see that some of what he has said is disrespectful and wrong,' said Stu Loeser, who is advising Bloomberg's potential presidential campaign. Construction cranes climb into the sky and sprawl across the massive petrochemical facility that will turn a byproduct of fracked gas into plastic on the banks of the Ohio River, just outside Pittsburgh. Even at a distance, from the car park of a cancer treatment centre on a nearby hilltop, Royal Dutch Shell’s 386-acre site is a behemoth. It will anchor yet more gas, plastics and chemicals infrastructure in the tristate region of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. The plant would solidify demand for fracked natural gas and the ethane that comes with it out of the ground. It would make 1.6m tons of plastic and 2.2m tons of globe-heating carbon dioxide annually – roughly the same amount the city of Pittsburgh is trying to eliminate. The facility would also release hundreds of tons of toxic compounds into the air. As global demand for plastics grows, the buildout of this industry threatens US progress on the climate crisis and clean air. Opponents say the vast plastics … [Read more...] about Will a push for plastics turn Appalachia into next ‘Cancer Alley’?
